With Friends Like These... (re Ann Coulter)

.

===================================

SEE UPDATES AT END

===================================

There's an old saying: "It can take 50 years to earn a reputation, and 5 seconds to destroy it."

Apparently, the moral of that saying was completely lost on whichever CPAC executive(s) decided to provide Ann Coulter with a platform to speak upon at this confab, which she then used to call John Edwards "a faggot" (video here). It was also lost on those CPAC attendees who either applauded or laughed at it.

Actually, this terrible judgment goes further back than that --- to every one of those folks on the right who have provided Coulter with ever-larger platforms from which to express her incendiary, off-the-charts lunatic epithets like this.

Coulter was a time-bomb waiting to go off. And when she made that comment, when her fuse finally ground down to zero, the audience had a choice --- to applaud, or to boo. While a sizable number either sat on their hands or expressed gasps, they will be forgottten; the video of the many who hooped and applauded Coulter will live on, forever... especially in the leadup to the pivotal 2008 elections.

Just this week, I documented (here) how hundreds of seething leftarded lunatics expressed their collective regret on The Huffington Post that the Taliban was unsuccessful in its attempt to assassinate VP Cheney in Afghanistan this week, and how, upon being exposed by Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, HuffPost administrators got busy surgically scrubbing these comments, turning what was a 19-page thread into a half page of vanila comments. I then documented (here) how Arianna Huffington's statement concerning these events was filled with easily-demonstrable deceptions and untruths.

Yet
Arianna will be able to walk away from this entire sordid episode, unscathed, and smiling. Why? Because she is a leftist --- and as we've all been taught by the MSM, Hollywood, our educational establishment and the vast majority of America's intelligentsia, leftists always "mean well," whereas non-leftists are... just, well, "mean." And the MSM acted accordingly --- refusing to cover this HuffPost outrage.

This is not an isolated phenomenon, but rather is part and parcel of modern politics: the MSM lets leftists get away with gaffes and outrages that it routinely and gleefully crucifies non-leftists for commtting, and will keep before Americans' eyeballs for days, weeks or months on end.

This simply is how the game is played today. It is, of course, totally unfair, totally biased, and totally against the interests of the American people, and our national security. But it IS what it IS. (Or as Ayn Rand said, "A is A.")

The organizers of CPAC cannot have been unaware of this dynamic. Many of their noted (and worthy) leaders comment on it, often. Rush and Sean, those with the loudest megaphones, talk about it on a daily basis.

And yet, for all their virtues, both of them (particularly Rush*) have actively legitimized Ann Coulter, the right's equivalent of... well, someone beneath even Al Franken.
(*his choice of her as his fictitious Vice-President on "The Half-Hour News Hour")

Now, the chickens are coming home to roost, thanks to the idiotic decision to give Ann Coulter a CPAC-provided platform, which she then went on to use to call John Edwards "a faggot" --- and to the decision of a sizable portion of the CPAC audience to applaud her, either enthusiastically or reservedly.

CPAC was about many things --- about "interviewing" presidential candidates, discussing the future of conservatism, and how its adherents can regain power in Washington, should they prove worthy to the voters. It was also about ideas for how they would fight the most important battle of our lifetimes, against militant Islamists who have declared war on America and other free nations.
Yet given the MSM dynamic that every CPAC member knows exists today --- that they will cover up for or ignore the most outrageous lunacy on the left, while fighting like vultures to expose and repeatedly cover any gaffes and outrages on the right --- what in the world did they expect would happen when Ann Coulter makes such a statement, on a CPAC-provided platform?

You got it: the MSM is going to sink its collective teeth into not only what Coulter said, but the fact that there was significant appaluse.

And reality, being what it is, the MSM is not going to let go of this.

Coulter's comment will be THE defining "take-away" of CPAC 2007. Nothing regarding ideas, interpretations of where we are as a nation and where we should be headed, how to fight the war against militant Islam, etc.

No, it will be that Ann Coulter lambasted gays, and that CPAC members applauded her for it.
It gives me no pleasure to point this all out --- but I anticipate that some prominent and lay conservatives are going to try to paper this over, or dismiss it as just being MSM bias.

But if, KNOWING how the MSM game is currently played, CPAC execs and attendees STILL made a combined gaffe like this, KNOWING it was being broadcast on C-SPAN, then this lapse in judgment will serve to burn them for a long, long time. And rightfully so, in my opinion --- for what does it say about their judgment, in general, to say nothing of their values?

America has important issues and battles to address. The CPAC execs who gave Ann Coulter this platform, and the attendees who applauded her, just set back their ability to communicate with the American people on these issues and battles for a long time.

To mitigate this damage, CPAC should IMMEDIATELY issue a blanket condemnation of Coulter's statement, and assure Americans that they will never allow her a platform to speak from again. Period.

==============================================

UPDATE 1:

And so it begins... Ann Coulter, CPAC's execs and many of its attendees have now handed John Edwards and leftists in general a moral victory that they never could have obtained on their own (see here, and even on HuffPost, here). Get ready for days and weeks of this.

(This is all very similar to the moral victory that I contend Virgil Goode inadvertently handed CAIR and other domestic Islamists and terrorist front-groups, with his statements in late 2006... but we'll save that for another, future thread.)

UPDATE 2:

And as any rational observer would have expected, Ann Coulter is not only refusing to apologize, she is stirring the pot even further, with additional, stupid, incendiary statements on her blogsite (here).

*Sigh*. This fiasco is going to have a very, very, very long shelf life for leftists and their allies in the MSM.

UPDATE 3: A REFRESHING BREATH AT "HOTAIR"

As a huge admirer of Michelle Malkin, it is good to see that she, too, is seeing this fiasco in the correct context, here. I only hope that when Monday rolls around, the conservative media will be as principled as Malkin is in denouncing Coulter, and hopefully will go still further --- by denouncing CPAC execs and especially the audience members who applauded Coulter. Hey, I'm an optimist --- I can at least hope.

UPDATE 4 - MARCH 5: MALKIN NAILS IT AGAIN

Michelle just keeps getting better and better - here. She is spot-on accurate in her description, and the impact that this is all having. I would have liked to have seen her say more about the wrong-headedness of stooping to the leftists' level of such hateful speech (no matter its context, which many are making sloppy excuses for), but Michelle absolutely nailed the rest.

Although I'm an optimist, I can already see this being a big factor in kissing 2008 away - NOT because of what Coulter said, but because of the incredible stupidity that is being shown by a sizable number of "conservatives" who are defending or even applauding her for it. Coulter and her acolytes are handing the left an early Christmas gift that they could not have been less deserving of, yet which they are going to squeeze, with their allies in the MSM, for every last drop, until election day 2008.

UPDATE 5: BLOWING MY OWN HORN -

See one stupid comment I got, which I responded to, at 2:45pm, below; this pretty much sums up my entire view on using such a word as "faggot" or any similar epithet in any kind of public setting, let alone the premiere conservative event of the year, being televised nationwide.

There are a bazillion things to justifiably criticize or condemn the left for; issuing hateful epithets against any one segment of Americans eclipses all of this, distracts from it, and will live on far after any virtuous discussion ends. Oh, and it also makes all those who applaud look like a bunch of bigots, which in fact they have demonstated themselves to be, vis a vis Coulter.

UPDATE 6: AYE AYE, CAPTAIN -

Captain's Quarters has nailed it --- read it all here.

UPDATE 7, MARCH 9:

See the leftist hypocrisy regarding Coulter's comment, and the MSM's deafening silence over it, here.

The HuffPost Spin-Machine, Part 1

.

SO predictable. So pathetically predictable.

Yesterday, I documented (
HERE):

(a) Some of the hundreds of comments from seething, rabid leftists who posted on a Huffington Post thread, all centering on their regret that the Taliban was unsuccessful in taking out Vice President Cheney, and...

(
b) How the HuffPost administrators, upon learning that this thread was being exposed by Rush Limbaugh, began to surgically remove these posts, and eventually entire pages, leaving only re-timed innocuous posts to create the impression that "all is well at HuffPost," as if this all never happened.

I then documented (HERE) how, predictably, that night
(while the thread was discussed on TV by Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity), a number of the HuffPost regulars reverted to standard-operating-procedure: namely, claiming that it couldn't have been leftists making these outrageous statements --- that it must have been (yet another!) vast right-wing conspiracy.

Now, Arianna Huffington herself has entered the fray with an almost unbelievable commentary on this whole sordid episode, that even a functional 12 year old could demolish without breaking a sweat. And in this thread, I will do so --- easily.

And the best part is, you, dear reader, can prove the lunacy of Ms. Huffington's claims, all by yourself.

Let's start at the beginning.

In her post, entitled
"Limbaugh, Hannity, and the Right's Faux Fury Over Anonymous Comments," Ms. Huffington claims:

"On Tuesday morning, The Huffington Post linked to
an AP news story on the suicide bombing at the gates of the main American base in Afghanistan during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney.

"A miniscule portion of the people who read that story chose to take advantage of the anonymous, open forum nature of comments in our news section to express regret that the Vice President hadn't been killed in the attack.

"As soon as these offensive comments came to our attention, they were deleted from the site."

First, let's deal with the claim that these comments expressing regret that Cheney survived the attack consumed only "a miniscule portion" of the thread in question.

If that were true, then why --- as I documented (HERE; see Updates 2-4), and many others witnessed --- did the HuffPost administrators turn what was a 19-page thread into a 1-page thread, that was only half-filled, with 12 basically innocuous posts, that had been moved from other pages, and apparently manipulated with new time-stamps?

Background data:
Each page of a HuffPost comment thread generally contains about 25 comments. You can validate this for yourself, by checking the number of comments that link to Ms. Huffington's own thread: as of 2:28pm today, there were 259 comments that consumed 11 pages.

You can check any other thread to further validate the fact that each comments page contains about 25 comments, for yourself.

Thus, if what she said is true --- that those offensive posts on a 19-page thread were only "a miniscule portion" --- then why would not the thread be reduced by only one page, or at a maximum, two, which would leave it at 17 pages or more?
No, the fact is, as I documented, HuffPost administrators began removing (and apparently re-time-stamping) posts, and ultimately removing entire pages, one by one, until they were left with ONE PAGE containing 12 INOFFENSIVE POSTS.
As is proven by the HuffPost's own actions, it was a "miniscule portion" of the estimated 500 posts on that thread that did NOT voice the opinion, in some way, of the leftists' sadness that Cheney survived the attack.
Next, Ms. Huffington made the following statement:

"But that didn't stop the right-wing hit machine from seizing on the anonymous comments in an effort to prove that 'Democrats and liberals' (as Rush, able to divine party affiliation and political philosophy from a username, quickly labeled the commenters) 'have a hatred and a disgust for Cheney...that cannot be explained.'

"Before I get into how ludicrous this claim is, let me be absolutely clear: No one at HuffPost is defending these comments -- they are unacceptable and were treated as such by being removed. They were not made by me, by our editors, or by our bloggers. They were made by anonymous visitors to the site -- visitors that make up a very, very small unrepresentative portion of our readers."
Here we go again.

FIRST, less than four months ago, on November 23, 2006 --- as a sort of "Thanksgiving celebration," I guess --- one of the HuffPost's authorized bloggers (those who are granted dedicated threads to voice their screeds), Tony Hedra, opened his post with the following comments:

A Thanksgiving Prayer For Dick Cheney's Heart - And A Few Other Things

"I give thanks O Lord for Dick Cheney's Heart, that brave organ which has done its darn-tootin' best on four separate occasions to do what we can only dream about. O Lord, give Dick Cheney's Heart, Our Sacred Secret Weapon, the strength to try one more time! For greater love hath no heart than that it lay down its life to rid the planet of its Number One Human Tumor."
Did HuffPost kick Tony Hedra off the its bloggers roll? NO --- in fact, he was not only allowed to continue blogging... (below is his "archive of articles" from November 2006 onward)...
... on the very day that the Taliban attempted to assassinate Cheney, February 27, and all those hateful comments wishing for his death were posted, the HuffPost gave Hedra yet another thread, which he entitled:

SUICIDE BOMBER FAILS TO STOP WORLD'S #1 HOMICIDE BOMBER:

And as if that weren't enough, Hedra was allowed to post yet again

--- today, March 1, the very day that Ms. Huffington posted her claim that such comments are only the voice of a "miniscule portion" (and at the end of this thread, she referred to them as "unhinged"):

SECOND, having been an "anonymous visitor" to HuffPost for more than a year, I can attest to the fact that there have been literally thousands of comments posted by other visitors there, voicing their wishes for the death of (or other serious physical harm to come to) President Bush or Vice President Cheney.

One "visitor" to the HuffPost --- "SandyBurgler" --- said on the Cheney thread, he had clipped and saved the posts from other "visitors" and was going to be forwarding them to the FBI. The response --- as witnessed by me and many others? A steady drumbeat of profanity-laced derision from other leftist HuffPost "visitors" and regulars, castigating him for being a "tattletale," a "hall monitor," etc.

THEN, Ms. Huffington goes on to say:

"This tactic of digging through open comment threads to find outrageous comments that can then be cited as evidence of 'the angry left' has become a favorite of the swiftboat set."

But now, as the HuffPost admins have evaporated the thread into the ether, I guess we'll never know. The posts cited on my first thread here were a representative sampling, that will --- thanks to Blogger --- be preserved for eternity (or at least a very long time).

"Digging?" I was THERE. It would have been harder to AVOID seeing such comments than to hunt them down.

As to the "swiftboat" comment, ah yes. When confronted with the reality of one's own actions (and inactions), and those with whom one surrounds themselves, it's standard leftarded practice to point the finger of blame not at the offenders... but instead, at one's accusers.

Ms. Huffington concludes with this comment:

"So, please, spare us the bogus indignation. And stop trying to build an illogical but politically-convenient thesis on the backs of a few unhinged and clearly fringe commenters"

WHY, oh why, do leftists make exposing their shenanigans --- and their efforts to cover them up, while attacking the exposers --- so easy?

Who knows. But let's hope that they continue to do so.

================================================

UPDATE: March 1, 8:35pm:

Well, as I noted
on this thread, the night the Cheney thread was discovered, the HuffPosters began screaming that this all must be (another!) vast right-wing conspiracy --- that all those who expressed regret that Cheney survived the Taliban's attempted assassination of him, MUST have been non-leftists, "trolls," Republicans pretending to be "unhinged" leftists.

Lest any of us wonder if that really is the rabid left's standard excuse
for everything unsavory that's exposed about them, I finally had a chance to scroll through the comments pages at Ms. Huffington's thread, in which she dismissed all this as some sort of anomaly.

Take a look yourself... it's quite... revealing. The vast majority of "visitors," instead of acknowledging the facts of this situation, revert back to and express their hate, their paranoia, and their loonbatted belief that this was all a right-wing conspiracy. (Countdown to HuffPost admins' start to surgically cleanse this thread in 3...2...1... GO!!!)

But, in fairness, there are also a few honorable leftists/Democrats, who acknowledge the reality, and express themselves quite eloquently. Here's hoping their comments will cause some reflection among the rest.

----------------------

(AFTERTHOUGHT)

WAIT... what if all those comments supportive of those loonbatted leftist hate-posts are themselves part of the vast right-wing conspiracy to make the HuffPost look even worse??? You know, by pretending to be leftists, and sympathizing with the commenters who expressed regret that Cheney survived!!!??? Wait... but that would make them...
Tin foil hats anyone???

Oh, forget it... now MY brain is hurting!!! (it ain't easy pretending to be a conspiracy-harboring, hate-filled leftist!!!)

As Predicted: HuffPost's Cheney Thread Must Be A Right-Wing Conspiracy

====================================

NOTE: This thread is a continuation of yesterday's super-blog, HuffPost Insanity Part 3,243: Regret Over Failed Attempt on Cheney By Taliban

====================================

All of a sudden, I'm feeling positively omniscient.

First, after hearing this morning of how Cheney missed being assassinated by the Taliban, I anticipated that the Huffington Post crowd would be all over it, expressing their sadness, and sympathizing with the Taliban. (check!)

Blogged extensively on it here, and Rush Limbaugh picked up on my emails to him re the HuffPost admins' surgical scrubbing of its Cheney thread. (check!)

Then, tonight, I figured that as HuffPost admins have now all but extinguished that thread, perhaps some of the HuffPost regulars would be commenting on what happened today, on threads devoted to other topics. Gee, I was right again.

But what I missed --- and should not have, given my experience with them --- is that they would be claiming that leftists could not possibly be saying such things as were reported on that thread.... that it must be... (DRUMROLL) yet another right-wing conspiracy!!! Tin foil hats... get your tin foil hats here...

For those of you who missed it, not only garden-variety HuffPosters are claiming that hatred is exclusively a non-leftist affliction. As was reported at JQWorld last July, here, none other than one of the founders of Air(head)America, Sheldon Drobny, claimed that while he acknowledges rabid anti-Semitism and Jew-hatred is overflowing on leftist blogsites, it can't possibly be leftists who are saying such things... it must be (drumroll... you guessed it) a Karl Rove conspiracy!!!!

Back to the Cheney thread today, though... HuffPosters, you never let me down!!!

It MUST be another non-leftist conspiracy!!!

Here we go:

On the thread:
Break-In At NH Democratic Headquarters (which replaced the Cheney thread since about 6pm)...
Not that I would accuse the repugs of conspiracy...bwahaha.. But I bet that the worst comments directed at the VP today were actually from repug trolls.
By: HeevenSteven on February 27, 2007 at 07:41pm

Yep. We were talking earlier about that.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 07:51pm

I missed the party. Friend of mine called tonite and said Rush Blimpo was raggin' about it. I looked and there are only 14 comments left up...sheez I thought censorship was right-wing stuff.
By: HeevenSteven on February 27, 2007 at 08:05pm

When I logged in today, they had already closed the comments, but they hadn't wiped them all. It was pretty clear that a few of the regular posters -- Thalia, kay, feminazi -- were arguing with a lot of people who's names I didn't recognize. And, of course, BJ and JonQ were around egging things on. With a few exceptions, it was people I'd never seen spewing the worst "Death to Cheney" stuff, which made me think that everything wasn't on the up-and-up.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 08:24pm

Not only were the comments shut down on HP, but then they were published at TOWNHALL and I didn't recognize any names. The most outrageous attacks were definitely planted. The one HP poster I recognized didn't say ANYTHING even remotely negative about shooter's safety. He was just too liberal, I guess.
By: smootybooty on February 27, 2007 at 08:42pm

And all you dittoheads who want info on the infamous Cheney thread, Malkin has the PDF furnished by First Amendment advocate Sandy Burglar (LOL). Of course, all the moderate and sensible Comments were scrubbed to make it look much worse then it was originally. Now, drop dead! (Just a figure of speech, of course.)
By: getoffmedz on February 27, 2007 at 08:51pm

Only the most extreme and outrageous Comments made it to the PDF. If you'll notice page numbers are scrambled, portions of pages are missing and basically, a real bad quick edit.As usual, the Reich-wing can't play fair. The obvious bad edit will backfire, btw.
By: getoffmedz on February 27, 2007 at 09:01pm

... You'd think that if someone were maligning the news website that someone owned, and impugning the character of both her website and/or her person, someone would get a team of reporters on the story and would hold the wingnuts 'hatchet job' up to public ridicule! Put their stupidity up as a headline, complete with transcript of the original and then 'doctored' posts, and let them swing in the wind, hoisted from their own petard of psuedo-piety! It's what I'd do, if I were that 'someone'..! ;) ...
By: CynAnne on February 27, 2007 at 09:19pm

Wow. The only explanation I can think of is the Republicans are looking to see just how insultingly-corrupt they can get without people wanting to pay attention. Cheaper than a focus group, I bet. :)
By: lintlass on February 27, 2007 at 09:31pm

I have noticed as well, the unusual amount of names that I did not recognize that were rather trollish... a few of them quite vile.It is as if the trolls are all wounded and backed into a corner... mean and rabid.... lots of barking... no where to go....
By: nochnoi on February 27, 2007 at 09:31pm

The same thing happened last summer during the Israel/Lebanon war. We had a sudden influx of really vile anti-semitic posters -- not people criticizing Israeli policy, but anti-semtic garbage. And all the usual suspect trolls showed up bringing "all you libs hate Jews." Once again, the people posting the garbage were by-and-large names I'd never seen, except for a few of the usual suspects like PaulRevere. This was very similar.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 10:09pm

I read them too, and thought "whoa--those are really bad". I also did not recognize most of the posters and thought they must be trolls descending on HP. I read that one person was going to send the posts to the FBI. The whole thing stunk and I avoided posting on that thread. I think there are enough of us who know the regulars and can attest to strangers amongst us. An excuse to go after Ariana, obviously.
By: meah on February 27, 2007 at 10:20pm

[A VOICE OF REASON!?!?]
Conspiracy! Conspiracy! Jesus, don't you people ever get tired of spouting this ridiculous nonsense. Yes, the embarrassing quotes were obviously planted. Thats the only conceivable explanation. There's no way that liberals may have actually posted that stuff...it must be the right wing smear machine. Nothing that was posted this morning was in the least bit out of the ordinary for the Huffington Post. Truth is smootybooty and Groucho, if you were to speak truthfully you know that you agree with those that wished Cheney had been killed.
By: moderate1 on February 27, 2007 at 10:31pm
Yep, that's what happened to me. I read through a couple pages when I got to work, and Femi had been scolding the morons. I went to post something to back her up -- and, gee, the comment button was gone.I just got off the phone with Pix, and she said they did a huge banning sweep of basically everyone who posted on that thread. What a trainwreck.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 10:42pm

Swell. I think that Ariana needs to address this. I hope she reads this thread. Or at least gets the word that the regulars were not posting with a few exceptions. I remember one regular was bawling out people for saying such rotten stuff. Trainwreck is right.
By: meah on February 27, 2007 at 10:59pm

Apparently they used keywords for banning, so even people who were quoting the idiots and arguing against them -- like femi and Thalia -- got the axe, too. Good grief.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 11:07pm

Glad to see you survived LOL. Apparently, it got pretty mean. Pages were disappearing when I got here, so I never saw the whole thing. But I saw a good chunk of it before it went away. Like I said, a trainwreck.
By: GrouchoMarxist on February 27, 2007 at 11:24pm

Well isn't that sweet.

The HuffPost loonbats claim to know every one of the thousands of folks who post at Queen Arianna's, and because they didn't recognize some of the most loonbatted posters, well... gosh, they MUST be RNC/Rove stooges!!!

OK, that's enough for one day... even MY brain is starting to hurt now!!!

(Wait.... are those black Halliburton-ExxonMobil-BushCo-Meineke-Diebold-TacoBell-PNAC conspiracy cabal helicopters hovering above my place, in whisper mode? Oh NOOOOO....... ;)

(11:30am) Fresh from the heart of the leftarded blogosphere:

Cheney Survives Taliban Assassination Attempt:
.

HuffPost Bloggers (and Taliban) Express Sadness

Well, it wouldn't take a genius to predict that oncethis story made the wires, the seething leftarded "base" of the Democratic Party would be expressing their sadness that Cheney survived.

But to see it in their own words, as expressed at one of the rabid left's most popular gathering spots, The Huffington Post, is something else entirely.

Here are some excerpts (to be added to as the hours and days unfold):

"Cheney's spokeswoman said he was fine"
Fuck.
By: geoman77 on February 27, 2007 at 08:10am

They missed! Too bad.
By: DinahM on February 27, 2007 at 08:15am

To bad they missed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better luck next time!
By: TDB on February 27, 2007 at 08:18am

They missed?? Dammit. I hope they try again before he leaves.
By: tripdc on February 27, 2007 at 08:20am

It's good to see this asshole living in the world he has created. All I can say is "better luck next time".
By: pal on February 27, 2007 at 08:26am

Just can't get good bombers any more!
By: maf on February 27, 2007 at 08:31am

Jesus Christ and General Jackson too, can't the Taliban do anything right? They must know we would be so gratefull to them for such a remarkable achievement.
By: hankster2 on February 27, 2007 at 08:32am

It's just as well they missed. We wouldn't want to owe the Taliban such a debt of gratitude.
By: alpine on February 27, 2007 at 08:33am

Obviously they're fightin' this vile bastard over there, so we don't have to fight him here.
By: beaver on February 27, 2007 at 08:34am

If Cheney was seized by the Iraqi government ,tried, convicted, and hung by the neck until his freakin head popped off, then I would say Iraq is making " remarkable progress " .
By: lornejl on February 27, 2007 at 08:37am

Cheney escapes justcice again we live in hope the next time he faces the justice he so richly deserves.
By: Marhamptom on February 27, 2007 at 08:37am

Forget the bombs fellas, next time just expose him to a big magnet and turn his pace maker into an 'in body' IED
By: pinehermit on February 27, 2007 at 08:58am

Its a shame they missed the bastard.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. It would be such sweet, poetic justice if it happened. Sorry if that offends you who worship the devil of D.C.
By: TOMVICKERS on February 27, 2007 at 09:28am

If only Cheny and Chimpy traveled together. They could kill two turds with one stone. And then---President Pelosi! Neocons wake up screeming.
By: TOMVICKERS on February 27, 2007 at 09:35am

If Bush and/or Cheney were assassinated, BILLIONS of people worldwide would celebrate. That's a reflection of THEIR (lack of) character, not the celebrants'.Live by the sword, die by the sword....
By: dictatortot on February 27, 2007 at 09:35am

Cheney's pure evil. The sooner he goes, the better.

THANK GOD, WHO IN HIS GRACE PROTECTED DICK CHENEY! In precisely the same way He saved Adolf Hitler in an even closer call in 1944. He ain't the Hebrew War God for nothin', ya know.

I am a pacifist. I am against capital punishment. I am against evil. But maybe, just maybe, if they had killed Cheney today, our world might have been a little bit safer for my children...

SEE UPDATE 2 AT END --- THIS IS WHERE I LEFT OFF, AND HAD TO PICK UP AGAIN, BECAUSE HUFFPOST IS REMOVING THE PAGES OF THIS THREAD, STARTING FROM PAGE 19 BACKWARDS:

When you see your government being terrorists you think you should be also. What's worse strapping on a bomb killing yourself and a dozen or more other innocent people or dropping a 1000 pound bomb on a building and killing say 10 in that building 5 in the building on one side and 7 in the building on the other side 15 people in the street out front part of the other affected building collapse and kill another 20 and thirty get wounded from the blast and several others are hurt trying to help the injured and trapped. What I am trying to get across to you is that there is no high ground in murder, and war is murder!Everyone that participates in war is a FOOL or worse.Never ever trust stupid lying republicans

serial killers don't deserve special consideration just because they may be VP of the USA.
By: yappymutt on February 27, 2007 at 11:17am

2. Hmmmmm......y'know, the case is pretty strong that Cheney is not our legitimate VP. He's supposed to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. He hasn't done anything like that....quite the opposite, in fact, so his Vice Presidency is illegitimate ....
By: ChimpyMcCokespoon on February 27, 2007 at 11:18am

And I wonder how many people Gov. Bush executed for killing someone in the commission of a felony, even if they didn't start out trying to murder anyone?
By: ncjohn on February 27, 2007 at 11:29am

Well, well, well.

If "60 Minutes" or some other newsmagazine wanted to do a really interesting story on the state of culture in America, they would present all this to our citizens, and get Mike Wallace to hound down Queen Arianna and ask how in good conscience she can host such a site, and actually charge advertisers to promote their products and services there.

And if the MSM was really adventurous, they would explore how the talking-points and concepts of "justice" that are expressed by the rabid left in America could be so eerily similar to those of the jihadist murderers that comprise the Taliban (and their murderous bretheren in al Quada, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc.); whoops, I forgot... they are merely "freedom fighters" putting up a noble and justified "resistance."

And they could go further: by exploring how, as I have pointed out repeatedly at JQWorld, that the supposed advocates of "tolerance" and "diversity" and "inclusiveness" and "understanding" --- who can excuse the most vicious acts of murderous jihadists, and every form of human depravity --- could possibly harbor so much hate, such mind-numbing rage that is now referred to as "Bush Derangement Syndrome."

Yes, maybe, someday the MSM will explore all this...

*** crickets ***

Uh-huh.

=============================================================

UPDATE 1 (12:00PM): HUFFINGTON POST SHUTS DOWN THREAD LESS THAN 4 HOURS OLD

Unlike the other threads in which HuffPosters get to give voice to their Bush Derangement Syndrome for days on end, this thread --- which was posted at 7:59am on Tuesday, February 27 --- was closed at 11:43am. (And the entire last page, 19, was deleted in entirety)...

Perhaps the administrators at HuffPost are developing something resembling a conscience!?

One can only hope.

==================================================================

UPDATE 2: HUFFPOST ADMINS ERASING PAGES ON THIS THREAD!!!

As noted in Update 1, above, this thread at HuffPost was on page 19 and going strong at 12:00pm.

Rush Limbaugh got on the air at 12:07pm EST, he opened by talking about this thread... and read some of the more disgusting comments at HuffPost... and continued until 12:12pm. He closed by saying that he was going to have his people post a link to this (HuffPost) thread.

BUT WHEN I FOLLOWED THE LINK ON RUSH'S WEBSITE OUT OF CURIOSITY AT 12:42pm, see how he framed the issue, THE THREAD ONLY WENT UP TO PAGE 14 --- pages 15-19 had magically *disappeared!!!*

I then began to clip and paste the posts from page 14 backwards to the last page I left off on (page 9), before they could erase the rest of them. The break point in my thread here was the post at 10:18am (see red note).

As of this moment, 1:17pm, the HuffPost thread is now down to PAGE 9

It's a wonder why they didn't just delete the thread in its entirety. Or is it?

If they deleted it, Rush's link (and mine) would go to a blank page. So instead of doing that, they are apparently removing the pages (if not the offensive posts), one by one, in true leftarded fashion --- to conceal the real outcome of their actions, "by degree," or "progressively."

=============================================================

UPDATE 3 (1:25pm): RUSH LIMBAUGH DESCRIBES DOCUMENTATION ON JQWORLD --- and MORE!!! (Though not by name --- yet)

Starting at about 1:16pm, I began emailing Rush with updates to this post... highlighting the fact that HuffPost admins were removing the pages... sent him two updates... then, at 1:25pm, Rush returned from break and mentioned exactly what was in my emails to him moments earlier --- and MORE: most notably, that the HuffPost admins are actually REMOVING INDIVIDUAL POSTS, starting with the FIRST ONE cited above.

"Cheney's spokeswoman said he was fine"
Fuck.
By: geoman77 on February 27, 2007 at 08:10am

Rush said he couldn't cite the post because it had the "F" word in it --- but that now (ShaZAM!!!) the "new" first post on the thread was something very inoffensive... which now reads (note the identical time-stamp):
Geez. You'd think the Taliban would be grateful to Cheney & Co. for diverting off into Iraq and allowing them to regroup and resurge. Ingrates!
By: Thalia on February 27, 2007 at 08:10am

Here are Rush's comments:
RUSH: "By the way, a little update, ladies and gentlemen. Our first item in the program today: the Huffington Post, in their news section, posted a story on the attempted assassination of Dick Cheney today by Taliban commanders and terrorists at Bagram Air Force Base, leading to comments after the news story suggesting that it was unfortunate Cheney was not killed. We posted the link to that site at RushLimbaugh.com. They've now shut down the comments and they have eliminated some of the offensive ones. So if you go there now, you will not see the first comment -- and I didn’t share this one with you because it's the F-word. That's all it is. The first comment, the news that Cheney didn't die, that's gone, and it's been replaced with something sweet and light and so forth and so on. But they've stopped comments to that particular item in their news section and have eliminated, I'm told, some of the offensive comments hoping that Cheney dies or should have died or will die in the next attack or what have you."
I know for a fact that this post by "Thalia" was actually stamped at least 2 hours later BECAUSE I WAS ON THE THREAD (under my 24th login ID since being "banned"... "WhereInTheWorldIsJQ")
... yet the HuffPost admins are apparently now manipulating what was said on their thread, and when.

I hesitate to use the word "unbelievable" in regards to anything the rabid left in America does, given what they've done in the last 4 years... but this almost is.

------------------------------------------------

MINI-UPDATE: 1:37pm: HUFFPOST ADMINS ARE NOW DOWN TO PAGE 7; PAGES 8-19 HAVE MAGICALLY "DISAPPEARED" --- and the remaining "posts" are being removed, and replaced with less-offensive ones, with new time-stamps.

MINI-UPDATE: 2:04pm: Well, they're now down to page 6. And the number of "comments" has been re-numbered from "160" to "141." Pages 7-19 magically went away... along with all the offensive posts (typically about 25 per page)... and the inoffensive ones have been re-timestamped to provide the illusion of "nothing out of the place here... nothing to see folks, now move along...."

As my friend A.T. says... what a HOOT!!!

============================================================

UPDATE 4: 3:10p: PROOF OF POST REMOVAL AND INDICATIONS OF TIME-STAMP MANIPULATION AT HUFFPOST

Here is a screen shot of what the thread looked like at 2:04pm, when there were "6 Pages":

And here is a screen shot of what the thread looked like about 10 minutes later, when there were "5 Pages":

And here is a screen shot of what the thread looked like about 10 minutes later, when there were only "4 Pages":

NEXT: Here is the front page of HuffPost at 2:04pm, when there were "141 comments":

NEXT: Here is the front page of HuffPost about 30 minutes later, when there were "76 comments":

Well, well, well indeed.

The Stalinists, the Maoists, the Hitler-worshipping Nazis and the others in socialist-fascist-totalitarian tyrannies were masters at this sort of thing... airbrushing out or otherwise "eliminating" anything that exposed their true nature.

In a precient stroke of timing, last Sunday's "60 Minutes" profiled how the Nazis, under suspicion of murdering tens of thousands of Jews at the Teresenstaph concentration camp, transformed it into a veritable "Jewish paradise," replete with cafes, playhouses, fancy clothes, etc... all to fool the Red Cross on the only one-day visit they were permitted to have. And as soon as the Red Cross left (satisfied), the Nazis resumed their murder.

What this thread --- and the lunatic leftists who expressed all these wishes for Cheney's death, in synch with the actions taken by the Taliban --- represented was a clear, timely view inside the leftarded blogosphere.

Well, right up until it was all airbrushed out of existence by Huffington Post administrators.

=====================================

Those familiar with JQWorld know that I've been doing battle with, documenting, and lampooning leftist lunacy for a little over a year, primarily at HuffPost.

After all the threads I've seen, all the loonbatted comments (and conspiracy theories), I must admit --- the hundreds of posts on this thread at HuffPost astonished even me.

But what astonished me even more was the fact that the HuffPost administrators apparently didn't heed the lesson of Watergate and other scandals: it's not the crime or the action that nails ya, it's the cover-up.

Maybe one day the MSM will decide to cover all the America-bashing, Jew/Israel-hating, jihadist-appeasing, UN-worshipping, Bush Derangement Syndrome lunacy that goes on there. Let's hope.

=========================================

LAST UPDATE: It seems Michelle Malkin and I were on the "same page" today... and she documented the actual screen-grabs of some of the most loonbatted posts, before the HuffPost administrators could purge them, and pretend they never existed... see here.

And be sure to check the time-stamps on these posts... as opposed to the "cleansed" version I documented earlier.

Oh, by the way ---- now, this HuffPost thread is down to 1 PAGE, and 12 posts... and the surviving posts are so sweet, so innocent... straight out of Disney!!! The first one --- the top of the list that anyone who links to the thread will see first --- NOW reads:

glad the VP is OK.
By: kennedysghost on February 27, 2007 at 08:14am
How sweet... isn't it?

WHAT A DAY!!!

1,600 Terrorists Planning Attacks; The MSM: Where's The Celebrity Angle!?

.

From today's Telegraph (UK; hat tip LionheartUK):

Secret Report: Terror Threat Worst Since 9/11

Excerpt:

The terrorist threat facing Britain from home-grown al-Qaeda agents is higher than at any time since the September 11 attacks in 2001, secret intelligence documents reveal.

The number of British-based Islamic terrorists plotting suicide attacks against "soft" targets in this country is far greater than the Security Services had previously believed, the government paperwork discloses. It is thought the plotters could number more than 2,000.

Eliza Manningham-Buller, the director general of MI5, warned recently that there were more than 1,600 "identified individuals" actively engaged in plotting terrorist attacks. There were 200 known networks involved in at least 30 terrorist plots. It is thought that the number of British citizens involved in plots could be well in excess of 2,000...
Hm. This article and others indicate that most or all of these terror threats are from home-grown jihadists, including second- and third-generation Muslims in England, many from middle- to upper-class families.

I covered some of the unreported-on hard numbers at JQWorld,
here.

And yet, what is the American mainstream media --- from CNN to Fox News to the Washington Post --- expending airtime and ink on, to the exclusion of even mentioning this story (thus far)?

You got it: The Oscars, Anna Nicole Smith's decaying body, Britney Spears' decaying psychological balance, the Libby trial, the Hillary-Obama spat, and other non-stories.
Little wonder why the jihadists are convinced that we can be conquered --- not through violence, but through the near-wholesale abdication by our mainstream media to accurately and promptly present the pivotal stories of the day, so they can present more nauseating non-stories that reflect only their obsession with celebrity-worship.

The Unreported Hypocrisy Of Class-Warfare Rants From Super-Rich Leftists

.
One of the great untold stories that the mainstream media refuses to cover is the naked hypocrisy of the super-rich leftist demagogues in America and their class-warfare, welfare-state advocating rants, versus their own personal lifestyles.

This thread will address only some of the most grievous examples, particularly from the leftist politicos who are screaming about wages and CEO pay.

Let’s start here: A few weeks ago, the House of Representatives voted 315-116 to approve the first increase in the federal minimum wage in 10 years, from $5.15 to $7.25 an hour over two years. Let’s examine these numbers:

Current minimum wage: $5.15 per hour x 2,000 hours = $10,300 per year
.
Recently-approved minimum wage hike: $7.25 per hour x 2,000 hours = $14,500 per year

As was reported in today’s Washington Post:

“Former president Bill Clinton, who came to the White House with modest means and left deeply in debt, has collected nearly $40 million in speaking fees over the past six years, according to interviews and financial disclosure statements filed by his wife, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.” Read the rest here.

Let’s see: The article indicates that Bubba “earns” an average of $150,000 for a 1-hour speech ($2,500 per minute). At this rate, Bubba “earns” 29,126 times what a current minimum wage worker does at $5.15 per hour, and 20,689 times what a future minimum-wage worker will, at $7.25 per hour. And if Bubba "worked" 2,000 hours per year, he would “earn” $300,000,000, which would put him in the top .001% of American CEOs.

The average pay for a CEO of an S&P 500 company in 2005 was $13.5 million, or $6,750 per hour (Source:
AFL-CIO). This is 1,310 times what the minimum wage worker earns currently, and 931 times what the future minimum wage worker will earn.

Yet the $6,750 that the average American CEO earns per hour is only 1/22 of what Bubba “earns” in the same time period.

And it's worth asking: Who’s producing more tangible value for their “earnings?” Who is creating more wealth, jobs, tax revenue, and benefits for America? Who is providing an opportunity for Americans to rise through the income scale --- and who is acting as a selfish obstruction, and taking more than his "fair share"?

=========================================

Now, let’s move along to John Edwards, the pretty-boy leftist demagogue who wants to be president, and who so loudly proclaimed that we are headed for “two Americas,” one of the wealthy, and one of everyone else.
As a reminder, let’s revisit Edwards’
stump speech (Try to ignore that oppressive Soviet military marching music you may hear in the background; just because this rant is rooted directly in Marxism, doesn't mean that John actually believes all this... or does it?):
“Today, under George W. Bush, there are two Americas, not one: One America that does the work, another America that reaps the reward. One America that pays the taxes, another America that gets the tax breaks. One America that will do anything to leave its children a better life, another America that never has to do a thing because its children are already set for life. One America -- middle-class America - whose needs Washington has long forgotten, another America - narrow-interest America - whose every wish is Washington's command. One America that is struggling to get by, another America that can buy anything it wants, even a Congress and a President.”
Let’s see: according to the
New York Times:
“In the four years before he joined the Senate in 1999, John Edwards made a total of nearly $27 million as a personal injury lawyer who won a string of multimillion-dollar jury verdicts and settlements.”
Rounding that out to $27 million, that means that Edwards earned an average of $6,750,000 per year, which is 655 times the earnings of current minimum wage workers, and 465 times the earnings of future minimum wage workers.

(Oh, and lest we forget, like all good super-rich leftist hypocrites, Edwards exploited numerous tax code loopholes to avoid paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes, which one must assume was part of his "fair share;" read some of the details here)
Again, who is producing wealth, jobs and value for America – and who is taking these things away, via ambulance-chasing litigation and exorbitant legal fees, "earned" through personal charm and manipulation of key audiences?

And lest we forget, part of Edwards' "skill" is his ability to manipulate jurors through emotional appeals, including his winning claim that he was channeling the thoughts of a little girl afflicted by cerebral palsy:
"I have to tell you right now -- I didn't plan to talk about this -- right now I feel her (Jennifer), I feel her presence," Edwards told the jury, according to court records. "[Jennifer's] inside me and she's talking to you ... And this is what she says to you. She says, 'I don't ask for your pity. What I ask for is your strength. And I don't ask for your sympathy, but I do ask for your courage'."
Source:
CNSNews.com

(Gee --- I wonder... could such a skill be used to manipulate an entire population to vote for an eminently unqualified propagandist? Hm.)
Next, consider that Edwards has nearly completed construction on his brand-new 28,200-square-foot super-mansion in North Carolina that is expected to be valued at more than $6 million.
(Source:
Carolina Journal)

Contrast this with the fact that the average American home in 2000 was 2,200 square feet, with 2.6 occupants.
(Source:
Population Reference Bureau)

Edwards’ new mansion, on the contrary, is 12.8 times the size of the average American’s home, and "features an indoor basketball court, a squash court, two stages... a swimming pool, a four-story tower, and a room designated as 'John’s Lounge'.

(And let's not even discuss the "environmental footprint" that such a super-mansion will have on the pristine North Carolina woodlands in which it is built... WHOOPS... Edwards is also an outspoke advocate of "environmental protections"; see www.johnedwards.com)

"Two Americas," indeed:
One consisting of super-rich Democrats and leftists, who preach from on high about the “greed” of corporate CEOs, while they merrily go about earning their exorbitant fees and salaries, negatively impacting the environment with their super-mansions, limousines, yachts and private jets, without a whimper from the fawning mainstream media that they count on to treat them like rock stars who really "care" about the little people that they preach to. (For as we all have been taught, only non-leftists and non-Democrats are “greedy” and “selfish” and “take more than their 'fair share'.”)

And the other America, which consists of people who do not bemoan what others earn, who admire productivity and achievement, who don't ask for or want special governmental favors, who just want to do the best they can for themselves and their families without being taxed to death to pay for endless Ponzi-based welfare-state schemes, and maybe leave a little something to their children.

For more information on the hypocrisy of super-wealthy leftists, and where and how they got their money, see The Left Wing Millionaire’s Club.

=========================================

Finally, lest we forget the class-warfare rant of the Democrats’ new golden-boy, Senator James Webb, who obviously has been studying diligently at the "John Edwards School of Political Demagoguery, Economics and Hypocrisy."

In his rebuttal to President Bush’s 2007 State of the Union Address, Webb rehashed the same talking points:

“When one looks at the health of our economy, it's almost as if we are living in two different countries. Some say that things have never been better. The stock market is at an all-time high, and so are corporate profits. But these benefits are not being fairly shared. When I graduated from college, the average corporate CEO made 20 times what the average worker did; today, it's nearly 400 times. In other words, it takes the average worker more than a year to make the money that his or her boss makes in one day.”
(Source: CBS News)

See James K. Glassman's exceptional dismantling of and rebuttal to Webb’s rants here.

=========================================

Maybe someday, Katie Couric, Charles Gibson, Brian Williams or one of their fellow super-rich, blow-dried mainstream media figures will devote some time to exploring this leftist hypocrisy (and its Marxist roots) in detail.

Maybe, once Anna Nicole Smith's decomposing body, Britney Spears' decomposing psychological balance, and American Idol are no longer commanding their lead stories, they'll get around to covering this aspect of leftist politics.

Maybe, before November 2008?

I won't be holding my breath.

=======================================

UPDATE, MARCH 6: TWO AMERICAS, INDEED!:

Straight from the files of the Bush Derangement Syndrome pop-star rant file... singer Kanye West ("They're going to shoot us! Bush doesn't care about black people!") will be the beneficiary of a $3,900 luncheon that will contribute the most to global warming in history... see this article at HotAir (from CNN). Bon apetit, eh?
