The NY Times' Schizophrenic Quasi-Dhimmitude

JonQuixoteWorld has documented how, on numerous occasions, the New York Times has acted to subvert America, most notably by whitewashing, burying or ignoring stories concerning radical Islamism, and the threat it poses to our people and culture (here, here) --- also known as journalistic dhimmitude. And JQWorld isn't alone in documenting this phenomena.

Most recently, the NYTimes buried the jihadist plot to blow up JFK airport and a good portion of Queens, as exposed by:

In its Sunday, June 10, 2007 edition, however, the Times has exhibited what I contend can only be described as schizophrenic quasi-dhimmitude.

Were it not for a momentary lapse in judgment --- in its excerpting of a journal kept by the murdered victim of Jew-hatred (see Issue 2) --- today's NY Times would have earned the JonQuixoteWorld "Dhimmi Of The Month" Award.

ISSUE 1: CLINICAL ANALYSIS OF JIHADIST "ETHICS," AND REFERRING TO THEM AS "MILITANTS," INSTEAD OF MURDERERS

On page 1 of the editorial section (Week In Review), the Times featured an above-the-fold, two-page cover story entitled "The Guidebook For Taking A Life," which explains the basic rules that jihadists refer to when considering who they may murder and how. This is a MUST-READ article.

Although it is quite interesting and insightful, the Times obscures the reality of this phenomena by employing phrases such as "Islamic militants" (see definition of "militant" here), and in an oblique way, serves to simultaneously enlighten infidels like us --- and embolden, if not justify jihadists like those they interviewed.

The article's authors, Mochael Moos and Souad Mekhennet, apply a dispassionate, antiseptic approach to describing the bloodthirsty jihadist code (as it were), rather than explicitly identifying these Islamist murderers as being just that: "militants" who happen to deliberately murder civilians, often in theatrically-gruesome ways, wage war against free societies, and appy 1,400-year-old "revelations" in order to justify their barbaric actions --- including against children.

ISSUE 2: A WRENCHING EXCERPT OF A NAZI CHILD-VICTIM'S DIARY

Then, on page 7 of the same section, something rational, contextual and relevant to the reality of murder somehow snuck through the NT Times' editorial board: "As the Nazis and Adolescence Took Hold," containing wrenching excerpts of a diary kept by Rutka Laskier, a 14-year-old Jewish girl in 1943, before she was taken to Auschwitz and murdered by the Nazis. This is a must-read. Excerpts:

(Feb. 5, 1943) Well, Rutka, you’ve probably gone completely crazy. You are calling upon God as if He exists. The little faith I used to have has been completely shattered. If God existed, He would have certainly not permitted that human beings be thrown alive into furnaces, and the heads of little toddlers be smashed with butt of guns or be shoved into sacks and gassed to death. ... It sounds like a fairy tale. Those who haven’t seen this would never believe it. But it’s not a legend; it’s the truth. Or the time when they beat an old man until he became unconscious, because he didn’t cross the street properly.

(Feb. 6, 1943) I saw how a soldier tore a baby, who was only a few months old, out of mother’s hands and bashed his head against an electric pylon. The baby’s brain splashed on the wood. The mother went crazy. I am writing this as if nothing has happened. As if I were in an army experienced in cruelty. But I’m young, I’m 14, and I haven’t seen much in my life, and I’m already so indifferent. Now I am terrified when I see “uniforms.” I’m turning into an animal waiting to die.

Let's see --- I forgot: were the Nazis who committed these barbaric atrocities called "militants," or murderers?

Apparently, it's not only the NY Times that has difficulty discerning between these two words; see HERE (h/t LGF) for an example of how the Associated Press is now referring to reporters who are pushing for Hamas to release their kidnapped BBC colleague, Paul Johnson, as "militants."

To help put this issue into focus, let's revisit this JonQuixoteWorld post from last summer, profiling Samir al-Quantar, one of the Palestinian "militants" whose bretheren (and the international left) have been trying to get released from an Israeli prison, as part of a "prisoner-exchange program" (in which kidnapped Israeli soldiers are exchanged for murderers like this guy):

Bassam al-Qantar has allowed himself to hope. After years trying to get his brother Samir out of an Israeli prison, he said, now may finally be the time."

Samir al-Qantar, 44, was sentenced to over 500 years in jail after leading a four-man Palestinian raid at the age of 16 on Nahariya in northern Israel that killed two policemen, a civilian man and his 4-year-old daughter."Witnesses said Qantar smashed her skull with his rifle butt... (B)y Israeli accounts, his brother took the girl and her father hostage, then shot the father and killed the girl with his rifle butt as police closed in."

Ah yes, another Islamist "militant," I presume.

From what I've read, however, such "militants" actually prefer to be called "martyrs" or "holy warriors," but the NY Times has not gone quite so far --- yet. (USA Today, however, has opted to begin describing these murderers as "holy warriors," though; see this article regarding the "Fort Dix Six.")


ISSUE 3: RUNNING AN AD IN THE SAME SECTION FOR THE JEW-HATING SPONSORS OF TODAY'S DC PROTEST

Then, one comes to page 12 in the same section --- opposite the beginning of the editorial section --- and sees an incendiary, full-page ad for something called the "Council for the National Interest Foundation."

Wow, now that's a name, eh? Hm, could it be standing up against the illegal immigrant tidal wave rushing over our borders? Perhaps a group that is studying how to avoid the impending financial collapse of our welfare-state schemes? Or maybe...?

Nope. It's an ad depicting for a 501(c)(3) foundation (translation: tax-exempt charity), which starts with a cartoon depicting all of the top candidates for president rushing over each other to speak before AIPAC, the American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee. Yes, the very same AIPAC that radical Islamist front groups in America (CAIR*, MPAC, ICNA, MSA) routinely decry as owning and controlling the U.S. Congress, etc. (*CAIR being now named an unindicted co-conspirator in a jihadist terrorist funding scheme; but hey, let's not be too unpleasant by pointing out such discomforting facts)

See it for yourself. Then, if you're really feeling brave, see this video on the history of how Islamist murderers have infiltrated and sought to dominate/have achieved dominance over other cultures, for 1,400 years. Also, see AIPAC's explanation of how Israel happened to "occupy" these territories --- which it took from Arabs when three of their military forces were lined up on Israel's borders, ready to pulverize and conquer the Jewish state.

But alas, thanks to propaganda like that which has been enabled by the NY Times, and Jew-hating allies who now rank among the most vicious, anti-American, anti-Israeli leftist organizations (also see JQWorld story, "The Hidden Truth Behind The 'Peace' Marchers"), the lies and misrepresentations against Israel just percolate along, without any real substantive opposition. Well, except this group of counter-protesters, who will be meeting the CNI forces on the DC Mall, today.

After the New York Times' recent bouts of unmistakable dhimmitude, burying and whitewashing stories concerning radical Islamism at home and abroad, well, I guess this shouldn't be much of a surprise.

But I'm an optimist. Call me surprised. Especially when one considers that this outrageous, full-page advertisement (which the NYT charges a fortune for) was positioned only 5 PAGES after the article about Rutka Laskier. Then again, given the fact that the NY Times' profits are falling* faster than Bill Clinton's zipper at a drunken sorority party, I guess they really do need the money --- no matter who it comes from. (*down 26% in 1st quarter 2007 alone)

ISSUE 4: MORE NY TIMES WORD-GAMES TO CONCEAL AND OBFUSCATE JIHADIST BARBARITY

Moving along now to page 16 of the main section of today's paper, we come to this headline: "Palestinians Attempt to Capture Israeli Soldier."

I see. This couldn't be those "Palestinians" that we are told day after day are seeking peace, that our tax dollars are going to support and arm, right? Well, of course not. And "capture" --- hm, interesting choice of words.

The NY Times wouldn't happen to mean, "kidnap," then "hold for ransom, to compel Israel to release butchering jihadists who've been captured and prosecuted (see Issue 2, above), and if they don't get their way, to murder the 'captured' Israeli soldier," now would they? Let's look at the article copy, shall we?

At least four Palestinian gunmen using an armored vehicle and grenade launchers broke through Israel’s border fence from Gaza on Saturday and fought a gun battle with Israeli soldiers, while Israeli troops entered Gaza near the southern town of Rafah to search for weapons and tunnels used to smuggle arms and explosives from Egypt.

One of the Palestinian gunmen was shot dead after the armored vehicle, labeled “TV,” crashed through the border fence at the old Kissufim crossing, near Deir el Balah, according to the Israeli Army. A spokesman for Islamic Jihad, Abu Ahmed, said three of the four gunmen had returned to Gaza, and the intention had been to try to capture an Israeli soldier.

Wow, well, that phrasing --- "capture" --- comes directly from the mouth of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, one of the most vicious, bloodthirsty, diabolical radical gangs of Islamist murderers in the world. And the NY Times just runs with his description; after all, it certainly comes from a real authority-figure, a credible source, right? (FYI, look up the definition of "dhimmitude" sometime). Moving on...

The attack evoked the Hamas raid into Israel a year ago, in which several Israeli soldiers were killed and another, Cpl. Gilad Shalit, was captured. He is still being held somewhere in Gaza. Negotiations for a prisoner exchange have been intermittent but have faltered over Hamas demands for prisoners Israel does not want to release.

Ah yes, more word-games. Now, we are supposed to believe that bloodthirsty, sadistic convicted murderers (like Samir al-Quantar, in Issue 2, above) should be referred to as "prisoners," and being in the same category as Israeli soldiers that are kidnapped by these same murderers. Equivocation on a UN-multiculturalist-worshipping scale, I do believe. And those mean Israelis don't want to release scum like al-Quantar, so they can resume crushing the skulls of 4-year-old Israeli children in front of their parents (who they then murder, too). Now there's a shocker. Moving on...

He (Abu Ahmed) said the raid had been carried out with the help of members of the Al Aksa Martyrs Brigades, affiliated with Fatah.

The intention, he (Ahmed) said afterward, was to kidnap an Israeli soldier but the mission failed.

Waaaaiiiittttt a second. I thought just a few paragraphs ago, Ahmed said that the mission was to "capture" an Israeli soldier --- as confirmed by the NY Times, "the newspaper of record?" (Note to NY Times' Dhimmi Standards & Practices Division: Better get your act together and not let any more of these accurate terms slip through, or no more bloodthirsty jihadist interviews for you!!!)

And wait... did that passage say that the raid had been assisted by a group affiliated with Fatah? Wait... I thought Fatah was the "peace-seeking," "moderate" wing of the Palestinian government --- which your tax dollars and mine are going to support and arm against... uhmm... right... the "radical Muslim" side of the equation, headed by (Iran-supported) Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad??? Now I'm confused. Are U.S. dollars and weaponry ($86.4 million, to be precise - but hey, who's counting?) being used in part to help attack/capture/kidnap/murder Israelis? Back to the story...

Islamic Jihad, a small radical military group supported largely by Iran, has always rejected any sort of cease-fire with Israel and carried out all four successful suicide bombing attacks in Israel in 2006.

"A small radical military group," eh? Wow, sounds just like the Continental Army led by George Washington in our Revolutionary War, eh? Very patriotic and noble-sounding, eh? Gooooooooddddddd dhimmi, good dhimmi.

NT Times, you could have labeled Islamic Jihad as "a bloodthirsty gang of murderers who seek nothing short of the destruction of Israel and the wholesale slaughter of Jews..." (or at least something approximating that definition), but thank goodness you didn't. Your pipeline to quotes from the blood-drenched hands of jihadist butchers is still intact.


ISSUE 5: A SCHIZOPHRENIC, LOVING, BENEFIT-OF-THE-DOUBT DEPICTION OF A LOW-KEY JIHADIST, SUSPECTED OF BEING INVOLVED IN THE JFK PLOT --- WITHOUT MENTIONING TAQUIYYA

Now, moving to page 3 of the International section, we come to this jewel: "Trinidad Group Denies Link To New York Bomb Plot." Well, this must be the first time in history that a gang of murderers (or murder facilitators) has denied involvement in the crime for which they are being investigated. The article begins:

One senior member of this island’s most hard-line Islamic group said he loves American television and hopes to send his son off to university in the States. Another said that when he is not praying or preaching, he plays in a steel drum band.

Cool!!! How often do you get a radical Islamist (Muslim supremacist) who also violates one of the strictest rules in Islamism --- playing music? And gosh, he even wants to send his son off to study at one of America's institutions of higher learning? Give him an American flag --- or perhaps, a chemistry set? Maybe some firearms training? How about a job as a JFK baggage handler, you know, to earn some pocket money during his studies? Continuing...

Denying that their group, Jamaat al Muslimeen, was tied to any plot to bomb a New York City airport, members this week portrayed themselves as both Islamists and islanders, devoted to God but also part of the multicultural mix that defines the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago.

Even as they did, the fiery imam who has long been the Jamaat’s public face ducked out the back of the mosque. That man, Yasin Abu Bakr, who once led a violent coup attempt here in 1990, faces trial next week for sedition and extortion and oversees a group with a reputation for thuggishness.

"Thuggishness," eh? Hm, somehow I wouldn't associate that word with the description that follows later:

Jamaat officials said two of the suspects had visited their mosque, but they dismissed the notion that a real terrorist operation was in progress and that their group was part of it.

“We don’t subscribe to that — this randomly blowing up of people,” said Kala Akii-Bua, Jamaat’s social welfare officer and the leader of a steel drum orchestra, adding, “I have a lot of respect for the security forces of America.”

Jamaat al Muslimeen, which has about 1,000 members in Trinidad, has long been the region’s most controversial Islamic organization.

Well now THAT'S a relief!!! Jamaat al Muslimeen apparently supports blowing people up on a deliberate, targeted basis... but ("Rain Man" voice here) certainly, definitely not "randomly" blowing people up. That would be veeeerrryyy uncouth, and might even lead to a weakly-worded rebuke from a UN committee. And thank goodness, he respects our security forces.

We can all sleep much more soundly knowing all this, eh? And heck, when was the last time you heard of the leader of a steel-drum "orchestra"* blowing up people at random??? Yeah, me neither. (*see definition of "orchestra," here)

At what was perhaps the height of its radicalism nearly two decades ago, Jamaat established ties with Libya when it was considered by Washington to be a terrorist state and dispatched armed fighters to take over Trinidad and Tobago’s Parliament.

Since that raid, which left two dozen people dead, the prime minister with a bullet wound to the leg and the police headquarters in ashes after a car bombing, Jamaat claims to have transformed itself.

Transformed itself... into WHAT?

After seizing power for about a week, Mr. Abu Bakr and his 100 or so followers were charged with murder, treason and other charges stemming from the coup. But a court dropped the charges after ruling that the men had been pardoned by the then-president.

...(B)ut even since his pardon, Mr. Abu Bakr, who was born Lennox Phillips and converted to Islam while studying in Canada in the 1970s, has repeatedly run afoul of the authorities here.

Next week Mr. Abu Bakr faces trial on charges of sedition and extortion, stemming from an explosive sermon he delivered in 2005, threatening war against fellow Muslims who did not follow the Islamic law of handing over part of their income.

Wow. Just a peaceful, peace-seeking (radical) imam. Wonder how many of those peaceful, peace-seeking imams are now preaching in mosques in America? Continuing...

Shortly after the 2005 fiery sermon, the authorities raided the Jamaat compound in search of what they suspected was a large cache of weapons hidden underground. Using a jackhammer to bash in Mr. Abu Bakr’s office and dig through his concrete floor, police officers found a rifle, a grenade and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

In another case, a member of Jamaat was found guilty in Miami in 2005 of trying to smuggle 70 submachine guns and 10 silencers to Trinidad from the United States.

Wow, again. When was the last time you heard of a priest, rabbi or other spiritual leader in America or elsewhere being part of a heavily-armed murder gang, which "declared war" against followers who wouldn't follow its orders to surrender part of their incomes? Hm.

And whatever could those weapons being illegally imported from the US be for? Last time I heard, you don't need a silencer-equipped submachine gun to hunt rabbits... or anything other than, well, humans. Continuing...

Jamaat said it is focused on domestic matters, assisting the many people who are left out of the economic boom here and shielding its faithful from Trinidad’s famed Carnival.

Gosh. A socially-conscious, murderous sect of religious "thugs." Kind of sounds like how Hezbollah won such loyalty among the poor and socially-conscious politicians in Lebanon, eh? (as described at JQWorld, here). Handing out welfare aid (provided by Iran) with hands still dripping with the blood of innocent civilians. Almost poetic (in a hellish sense).

Lastly, given that the NY Times boasts of its top-tier level of objective, socially-conscious "journalists," do you think it would have been worthwhile for the writer or the Times' editors to inject the definition of taquiyya into this article? For those unaware of that word, permit me to provide the definition:

Short definition of taquiyya: The Koranic-sanctioned use of denial and deception in order to clandestinely advance the imposition of shari'a, the repressive Islamist code that dictates all aspects of personal conduct and social policy, upon an unsuspecting culture

You don't suppose that a fine, upstanding,socially-conscious, steel-drum-playing imam like Mr. Abu Bakr would engage in taquiyya, would you?

The NY Times certainly paints him as a downright lovable fellow --- you know, a misunderstood rascal --- who has seen the error of his previously-brutal jihadist ways. And heck, his colleagues are even ready to send their kids to study in America (which they claim to admire --- well, at least our television and security, anyway).

Like it or not, the NY Times still wields great influence in our culture and beyond --- for good or ill --- and as an optimist, I remain hopeful that perhaps one day, its editors and writers will begin to present stories on issues concerning Islamism and jihad in a responsible, complete and (dare I say) balanced manner.

Praise Allah (peace be upon Him), we know all your buttons, and how to push them. This is why we and our financial backers have invested so heavily in not only America’s universities and school systems --- but also, in obtaining “insanity chips” (right), which we install in select people’s brains, to cause such commotions that even when you are inclined (hah!) to cover some of our outrages, you will, once again, be distracted.

For example, you’ll remember when we installed an “insanity chip” in the brain of John Mark Karr last summer, at the height of the war that Hezbollah initiated against Israel. This little technological marvel caused Karr to begin confessing to everything from the JonBonet Ramsey murder to the Lindbergh kidnapping to the Tylenol scare. That bastard infidel pig JonQuixote covered your breach in detail, here and here – about how you collectively turned on a dime and began wall-to-wall 24/7 coverage of this 10-year-old story, which (ha, ha, ha) turned out to be one of the greatest successes you granted us:

For rather than covering the true barbarity of our attacks against Israel, and the fact that we were – right under your noses – murdering our way into creating a new Islamist state, "Hezbollahstan" (again, which that bastard infidel pig JonQuixote covered here), where an aspiring constitutional democracy was budding, you instead devoted your massive global resources to covering every sentence that Mr. Karr spoke, and every item he ate on his plane ride home.

There have been innumerable other instances in which you gave us exactly what we wanted, through our simple use of remote-controlled “insanity chips,” installed in the brains of both has-been and current celebrities and cult figures.



And this week, praise Allah (PBUH), you enabled us to score another huge victory, with the disgusting outburst from Alec Baldwin, your third-rate actor and first-rate jihad-appeaser, against his own 11-year-old daughter.

Installing our “insanity chip” in Mr. Baldwin’s brain was a particularly challenging mission, being that there is so little brain tissue inside his skull to begin with. And what tissue there is has already been leftooned. But thanks to the technical skills of our young jihadists (much of which they obtained via student visas to your most prestigious universities, as part of "cultural exchange programs"), they were able to somehow accomplish this task.

Of course, an insane celebrity rant in a rational culture would merit, if anything, oh, say, about 15 seconds of airtime. But you, the American MSM, couldn't get enough, and devoted substantial portions of your news programs and newspapers to covering this non-story.

For example, on this morning's NBC "Today Show Weekend," the first 9 minutes were devoted to coverage of your Virginia Tech massacre and other top news stories. But then, uber-infidel-babe and co-host Campbell Brown engaged in a 10-minute discussion with several pundits about the seriousness and custody ramifications of Mr. Baldwin's insane rant. We, who of course get satellite TV, were laughing our asses off --- because...

To recap, here are some of the stories that we did not want you to cover, and which you were predictably cowed into not covering, thanks to your fetish-like insistence on covering every angle of Mr. Baldwin’s insane rant, which we were only to happy to orchestrate (you are SO predictable):

No, instead, you devoted a substantial portion of your newscasts from Thursday onward to covering Mr. Baldwin’s rant. And in doing so, you: (a) catered to the lowest base fascinations of your viewers, readers, radio listeners and website visitors, and (b) acknowledged, once again, your collective refusal to betray the dhimmi status we have assigned to you, by not showing the American people the true nature of who and what has declared war upon them.

This ignorance that you foment among your citizens will serve us well when Hezbollah and/or Syria instigates a new war against Israel. And just wait until Iran jumps into the mix, when al Qaeda blesses the bloody carnage that Islamists cause to Israeli civilians, and our operatives in America (CAIR, MPAC, MSA, Jimmy Carter, Cindy Sheehan, Noam Chomsky, etc.) begin screaming about how “cruel” and “oppressive” Israel is, when it attempts to defend itself against this murderous onslaught. We know you will continue to play your blessed role as obfuscators and deniers --- and we cannot thank you enough.

Who will we target next with our “insanity chips?” That’s for us to know and for you to find out!

But whoever it is, we remain 100% confident that you will, once again, be thoroughly distracted with the muck we'll instruct our target to emit. And thus, once again, you'll enable us to perpetrate our murder, terror and destruction, all the while claiming (as you will surely echo) that we are merely offering justified “resistance” to the encroachment of our "oppressors."

PBS Dhimmitude, Part II

Last night (April 19), PBS aired another segment in its "America At A Crossroads" series. This particular one, "Faith Without Fear," profiled a moderate Canadian Muslim, Irshad Manji, who is confronting certain aspects of radical/militant Islam, both in her own nation and in others. On whole, it was good.

But then, when given an opportunity to dispel one of the biggest lies to be perpetrated on the American people in recent memory --- that even Thomas Jefferson revered his copy of the Koran (told in the context of newly-minted Congressman Keith Ellison's use of it in his optional swearing-in ceremony) --- PBS not only punted, they actually advanced this lie.

I've seen parts of the following data in pieces in different places before, but this is the most concise account I've encountered --- from U.S. Veteran Dispatch:

Ellison's use of Jefferson's Quran as a prop illuminates a subject once well-known in the history of the United States, but, which today, is mostly forgotten - the Muslim pirate slavers who over many centuries enslaved millions of Africans and tens of thousands of Christian Europeans and Americans in the Islamic "Barbary" states.

Over the course of 10 centuries, Muslim pirates cruised the African and Mediterranean coastline, pillaging villages and seizing slaves.

The taking of slaves in pre-dawn raids on unsuspecting coastal villages had a high casualty rate. It was typical of Muslim raiders to kill off as many of the "non-Muslim" older men and women as possible so the preferred "booty" of only young women and children could be collected.

Young non-Muslim women were targeted because of their value as concubines in Islamic markets. Islamic law provides for the sexual interests of Muslim men by allowing them to take as many as four wives at one time and to have as many concubines as their fortunes allow.

Boys, as young as 9 or 10 years old, were often mutilated to create eunuchs who would bring higher prices in the slave markets of the Middle East. Muslim slave traders created "eunuch stations" along major African slave routes so the necessary surgery could be performed. It was estimated that only a small number of the boys subjected to the mutilation survived after the surgery.

When American colonists rebelled against British rule in 1776, American merchant ships lost Royal Navy protection. With no American Navy for protection, American ships were attacked and their Christian crews enslaved by Muslim pirates operating under the control of the "Dey of Algiers" --- an Islamist warlord ruling Algeria.

Because American commerce in the Mediterranean was being destroyed by the pirates, the Continental Congress agreed in 1784 to negotiate treaties with the four Barbary States. Congress appointed a special commission consisting of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, to oversee the
negotiations.

Lacking the ability to protect its merchant ships in the Mediterranean, the new America government tried to appease the Muslim slavers by agreeing to pay tribute and ransoms in order to retrieve seized American ships and buy the freedom of enslaved sailors.

Adams argued in favor of paying tribute as the cheapest way to get American commerce in the Mediterranean moving again. Jefferson was opposed. He believed there would be no end to the demands for tribute and wanted matters settled "through the medium of war." He proposed a league of trading nations to force an end to Muslim piracy.

In 1786, Jefferson, then the American ambassador to France, and Adams, then the American ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the "Dey of Algiers" ambassador to Britain.

The Americans wanted to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress' vote to appease. During the meeting Jefferson and Adams asked the Dey's ambassador why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

In a later meeting with the American Congress, the two future presidents reported that Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja had answered that Islam "was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Quran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise."

(JQWorld: Gee, does this all sound familiar? Where have we heard this divine proclamation before? Oh, right - HERE, here, and in about a thousand other places that neither PBS, nor our MSM, nor American schools will touch with a 10-foot kaffiya)

For the following 15 years, the American government paid the Muslims millions of dollars for the safe passage of American ships or the return of American hostages. The payments in ransom and tribute amounted to 20 percent of United States government annual revenues in 1800.

(JQWorld: See definition of "jizya," here; then correlate this all to CAIR and MPAC's relentless quest for special considerations and laws for American Muslims, and compulsory "sensitivity training seminars" for all U.S. government employees, schools, universities, airport workers, hospital employees, etc., some of which is documented at JQWorld, here)

Not long after Jefferson's inauguration as president in 1801, he dispatched a group of frigates to defend American interests in the Mediterranean, and informed Congress.

Declaring that America was going to spend "millions for defense but not one
cent for tribute," Jefferson pressed the issue by deploying American Marines and many of America's best warships to the Muslim Barbary Coast.

The USS Constitution, USS Constellation, USS Philadelphia, USS Chesapeake, USS Argus, USS Syren and USS Intrepid all saw action.

In 1805, American Marines marched across the desert from Egypt into Tripolitania, forcing the surrender of Tripoli and the freeing of all American slaves.

During the Jefferson administration, the Muslim Barbary States, crumbling as a result of intense American naval bombardment and on shore raids by Marines, finally officially agreed to abandon slavery and piracy.

Jefferson's victory over the Muslims lives on today in the Marine Hymn, with the line, "From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli, We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea."

It wasn't until 1815 that the problem was fully settled by the total defeat of all the Muslim slave trading pirates.

Now, with the billions of dollars of expropriated wealth that PBS relies upon to produce such documentaries, one would think that the above research --- at least part of it --- would have made it into this much-heralded documentary.

The fact is, not a word of this vital information was included in PBS's documentary --- none.

No, the viewer is left with the impression (like the vast majority of American schoolchildren are, via our schools) that slavery is an American invention, not something it inherited from the "old world," where it still festers to this day --- or that militant Islamists were (and still are) some of the most notorious slave-takers and -traders.

This entire aspect of the documentary was depicted as being indicative of Mr. Jefferson's respect for Islam, and Rep. Ellison's use of Jefferson's copy of the Koran as a prime example of the freedoms that Muslims enjoy in America. And of course, not a word of how the militant Islamist insanity that drove America to such desperate measures 200 years ago relates to our present-day struggle to prevail in the war that militant Islamist totalitarians declared on America was included, either.

No, apparently according to PBS, violent, aggressive, militant jihad against innocent peoples and nations is a new phenomenon, that has absolutely no precedent or relevant history that we should keep in mind.

Newsflash, PBS: "Freedom" is not having money taken out of one's pocket in the form of taxation to support the propagation of ideas that one vehemently disagrees with, least of all those which are demonstrably untrue or biased.



Actually, Mr. Jefferson said it best:

"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical."

Uh-huh. Let's see PBS correlate that principle with how it handled Rep. Ellison's use of Mr. Jefferson's personal copy of the Koran --- versus the reality of it.

UPDATE: MODERATE MUSLIM SPEAKS OUT AGAINST PBS DHIMMITUDE

M. Zuhdi Jassar, a Muslim reformer, physician and retired Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy, dared to speak out against militant Islamists in the documentary that PBS funded, but which it now refuses to air.

In his biting criticism of PBS --- and of the mentality that underlies the whitewashing of radical Islamism that only contributes to throwing fuel on the fire, on the altar of "political correctness" or "multiculturalism" --- this courageous American has put his life on the line to speak out. Maybe PBS will get a spinal installation that will result in their having half of his courage.


UPDATE 2: REFORMED TERRORIST WARNS AGAINST APPEASING MILITANT ISLAMISTS

PBS Dhimmitude, Part I

With the emergence of a group like the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, Muslim Americans who dare to advocate core American principles of liberty, individual rights, and a legal separation of religion and government, JQWorld anticipated that it would only be a matter of time before they would run head-long into the pervasive leftist bias and dhimmitude exhibited by PBS.

That time is now upon us.

AIFD stands against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the incendiary theatrics they staged with the "flying Imams," and stands with US Airways now that it's been hit with a CAIR lawsuit.

AIFD stands against the notorious Muslim Brotherhood, which has its roots in and continues to pursue a radical Islamist agenda (not to mention its ties to terrorism around the globe).

AIFD's mission statement is more representative of bedrock American values than anything on 99% of leftist advocacy groups' websites (who routinely deride any group that advocates such stances as those espousd by the AIFD as "conservative" or "rightwing;" but as the group consists of Muslims, they can't play the "racist!" card).

All of which means that it was only a matter of time before AIFD and anyone they're affiliated with would be targeted by the leftist "establishment" that is personified --- under force of law --- at PBS.

Producer: PBS Dropped 'Islam vs. Islamists' On Political Grounds

Excerpt:

The producer of a tax-financed documentary on Islamic extremism claims his film has been dropped for political reasons from a television series that airs next week on more than 300 PBS stations nationwide. Key portions of the documentary focus on Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser of Phoenix and his American Islamic Forum for Democracy, a non-profit organization of Muslim Americans who advocate patriotism, constitutional democracy and a separation of church and state...

Martyn Burke says that the Public Broadcasting Service and project managers at station WETA in Washington, D.C., excluded his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, from the series America at a Crossroads after he refused to fire two co-producers affiliated with a conservative think tank...

Burke wrote that his documentary depicts the plight of moderate Muslims who are silenced by Islamic extremists, adding, "Now it appears to be PBS and CPB who are silencing them."...

Among Burke's examples of tampering:

• A WETA manager pressed to eliminate a key perspective of the film: The claim that Muslim radicals are pushing to establish "parallel societies" in America and Europe governed by Shariah law rather than sectarian courts.

• After grants were issued, Crossroads managers commissioned a new film that overlapped with Islam vs. Islamists and competed for the same interview subjects.
  .
• WETA appointed an advisory board that includes Aminah Beverly McCloud, director of World Islamic Studies at DePaul University. In an "unparalleled breach of ethics," Burke says, McCloud took rough-cut segments of the film and showed them to Nation of Islam officials, who are a subject of the documentary. They threatened to sue.

The terrorist threat facing Britain from home-grown al-Qaeda agents is higher than at any time since the September 11 attacks in 2001, secret intelligence documents reveal.

The number of British-based Islamic terrorists plotting suicide attacks against "soft" targets in this country is far greater than the Security Services had previously believed, the government paperwork discloses. It is thought the plotters could number more than 2,000.

Eliza Manningham-Buller, the director general of MI5, warned recently that there were more than 1,600 "identified individuals" actively engaged in plotting terrorist attacks. There were 200 known networks involved in at least 30 terrorist plots. It is thought that the number of British citizens involved in plots could be well in excess of 2,000...

Hm. This article and others indicate that most or all of these terror threats are from home-grown jihadists, including second- and third-generation Muslims in England, many from middle- to upper-class families.

Little wonder why the jihadists are convinced that we can be conquered --- not through violence, but through the near-wholesale abdication by our mainstream media to accurately and promptly present the pivotal stories of the day, so they can present more nauseating non-stories that reflect only their obsession with celebrity-worship.

The Big Kahuna Of Islamist Terror Speaks To GMA's Diane Sawyer - And American Leftists!!!

ABC's Diane Sawyer reported today from Tehran, where she "interviewed" the Islamist madman, "Uncle" Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

What started off as a tough-sounding interview, however, turned into a classic soapbox speech from Uncle Mahmoud, in which he --- like rabid American leftists --- (a) blamed America for all the problems in the world, and particularly in Iraq, and (b) parroted their lexicon of feel-good words ("peace," "tolerance," "understanding," "dialogue," "friendship," and of course, "diplomacy").

Sawyer: They say (that) 170 (U.S.) troops (have been killed) and some 600 have been injured by Iranian weapons. Are you sending weapons into Iraq to kill Americans?

Ahmadinejad: We shy away from any kind of conflict and any kind of bloodshed and we will be sad by such, we are opposed to any kind of conflict and as we have said repeatedly we think the world problem can be solved through the use of logic and a sense of friendship, there is no need for the use of force... (A)nd our position for Iraq is very clear, we are asking for peace, we are asking for security, and we will be sad to see people get killed, no matter who they are.

Sawyer: But they say they have serial numbers from Iran?

Ahmadinejad: But we don't need such things. I can give you figures and number, which are known: More than 160,000 American troops are in Iraq, 100 more … aircraft, helicopters, what are they doing in Iraq? I think the reason for insecurity of Iraq are these things, and these are some excuses to prolong their stay in Iraq...

Sawyer: Does Iran deserve the right to send Iranians in… Americans have said they had false identities that they were trying to shave their heads, trying to flush evidence.

Ahmadinejad: I don't think that in the legal system in the U.S. you have this postulation that if you arrest someone you have automatically accused someone. Only people who have committed something wrong can be taken to court. I think it was childish for the U.S. government to do something like that to arrest defenseless people, not allowing them to talk to anyone and to publish information in a biased way.

Sawyer: Will you prosecute anyone trying to bring Iranian weapons into Iraq?

Ahmadinejad: We are opposed to any kind of conflict in Iraq... (W)e think that the U.S. is following another policy trying to hide its defeats and failures and that's why is pointing its fingers to others. This is not a solution to the problem.

Sawyer: Do you personally fear an attack by us? And air strikes against Iran by the U.S.?

Ahmadinejad: Fear? Why should we be afraid? First the possibility is very low, and we think that there are wise people in the U.S. that would stop such illegal actions but our position is clear. Our nation has made it clear that anyone who wants to attack our country will be severely punished.

(Source: ABC) Diane Sawyer's trip to Iran and exclusive interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has prompted viewers from all over the country to send her questions. On Tuesday's "Good Morning America," she answered some of them.

Question: Is there anything surprising or personal about President Ahmadinejad that we didn't know?

Sawyer: It turns out somebody told me that he cries a lot. He is dramatically sympathetic. So I asked him, "Are you often in tears?"

Ahmadinejad: Yes, that's true. Not overwhelm(ingly) for Iranians, of course, they are very close to me and I love all Iranians. And anywhere — when I see people suffering I have the same reaction, and we feel sad for people of Iraq, for the people of Palestine. Anywhere we have war, we feel sad. Even when I see on TV, for example, some Americans, because of tornadoes or a hurricane, they have lost their homes, I become sad.

Because, for us, human beings are respectable, no matter where they are. Human beings are respectable, and they have their own dignity. And all of us should help so that people should lead better lives to live at peace. And to live in peace and brotherhood. In the viewpoint of our religion, all people are respectable, and they must be loved. Regardless of their nationality, ethnicity or religion. This is part of our religious teachings, and we'll live with this religion.

WOW. Nominate this jihadist-funding, jihadist-training, jihadist-arming, jihadist-justifying, Holocaust-denying, America-threatening nutjob for both the Nobel Peace Prize, and the Oscar --- for exceptional acting!!! Or at least get him his shot on Oprah... he has clearly earned it!!!

Of course, let's not even discuss the thousands of Israelis and Americans that Iranian-trained and -armed terrorists have murdered, or maimed... or the terror and oppression that Ahmadenijad visits upon his own people... such as the Iranian women and young girls who are put to death by hanging or stoning for the "crime" of being raped, or being victims of attempted gang-rape who have the audacity to defend themselves, or having romantic relationships outside of marriage... no, no, no, that would be very, very, very impolite for ABC or Diane Sawyer to ask.

Fact is, Uncle Mahmoud couldn't get this kind of free, positive press-time for $100 million --- yet ABC and Ms. Sawyer gave it up to him, for free.

It's a wonder why he and other Islamists think Americans are ripe for dhimmitude.

With the complicity of folks like Diane Sawyer and the ABC "News" team willing to give a monster like Ahmadinejad every benefit of the doubt, and transforming him from a murderous lunatic into a thoughtful, sensitive, peace-seeking world leader (see my earlier take on this here), it's no wonder that he'd make himself available to her, versus anyone with a modicum of knowledge as to his stated intentions, aspirations and bloody legacy.

What are those statutes re treason again!? Something about giving aid and comfort to America's enemies...?!

On another, somewhat related topic... as has been noted at JQWorld repeatedly in the past (here, here), one must wonder: Does Uncle Mahmoud get his blame-America, jihadist-terror-justifying talking points from the American left --- or do they get theirs from him?

Maybe ABC News will ask him this question tomorrow. In fact, I gave them a boost --- here's the email I sent to Diane Sawyer this morning (here):

Dear Diane: Does Ahmedinejad frequent American political blogsites like The Huffington Post and Daily Kos? I assume you noticed how similar the words and phrases that I used sound to those that you use --- such as how President Bush is evil and a war criminal, how America has no business being in Iraq, how all the violence being perpetrated there is being caused by your soldiers, and how I and Iran are only seeking peace, tolerance, human rights, justice and dialogue. Those words and phrases sound familiar to you because they came directly from the talking points I obtained from some of your more prominent (translation: rabid) leftist organizations, such as International ANSWER, Code Pink, Not In Our Name, MoveOn.org, United for Peace and Justice, PeaceNow! and others.

Even the Democratic Party has been a vital asset in my efforts. Chairman Howard Dean, and Senators John Kerry and Christopher Dodd have been god-sends, er, I mean, an Allah-sends!!! In fact, as reported by that infidel bastard JonQuixote, here and here, Chairman Dean is even considering nominating me to top the 2008 Presidential ticket in the American elections!!!

And lest I forget, your political blogsites are exceptional tools for us. That son-of-a-Jew-pig JonQuixote also documented some of your lunatic America-bashing, jihadist-appeasing, Jew-hating rants here. Although other sites like Little Green Footballs, JihadWatch, AtlasShrugs2000 and the site run by that bastard JonQuixote try to uncover and disseminate the truth behind my lies and intentions, we all know that the American media disregards them, to focus on sites like The Huffington Post, The Daily Kos, and Counterpunch. Good work!!!

I really, really appreciate your willingness to excuse all of my murderous actions around the world, of my legacy of funding, arming and justifying jihadist terror, and of my desire to extend Iranian dominance over the entire Middle East.

But thanks to your abhorrent educational system, very, very few of your fellow citizens can draw the vital parallels to my interview, and the speeches by Adolph Hitler in the late 1930s, regarding his feigned desire for "peace" and "justice" and how he had absolutely no intentions to enslave Europe, and then, the world. They have no conception of history - so everything they hear, they are more than likely to lap up like puppies to warm milk.

Didn't I do good? Judging from your emails, I think I did. The blood of tens of thousands of innocent people are on my hands, and those of my aforementioned colleagues --- and if I have my way, many millions will suffer as the result of our jihad, matched with our quest for so-called weapons of mass destruction.

The only things standing in our way right now are those infidel Israeli dogs, the American people, particularly your government, and certain elements of other goverments in Europe and other regions.

So I really, really, really need you to continue excusing our murderous jihad, or at least, propagating the notion that we can be negotiated with, that we can be appeased, that if President Bush would declare defeat in Iraq and just sit down and talk with us, we can be dissuaded from our intentions. Code-words such as "peace," "diplomacy," "justice" and "humanitarian" must be used repeatedly.

Most urgently, I need you to continue your refusal to differentiate between the murderer and the murdered, the terrorists and the terrorized, the jihadist and the committed freedom-loving peoples of the world.

Please, in the name of Allah, the merciful, continue to speak out against everything your current administration has done, is doing, and plans to do, to deal with the Iranian threat, once and for all. We only need a little more time to create our first nuclear weapon, and after that, well... Allah will tell. And most of all, keep pestering your news media with your hateful comments and diatribes, all directed at America, its history, present and future, vis a vis its "war on terror."

We both know that America is the most unjust, unfair, murderous, marauding, imperialist, malevolent nation that has ever existed in the history of the world. But, we need to temper our outrage, for the moment, to focus just on the Bush administration. For whatever his other faults that unite many if not most Americans, such as runaway spending, etc., we must continue to drive home the point that his "war on terror" is unwinnable, that he is evil, and that he is only embarking on this crusade to oppress and murder Muslim people, while enriching his friends in the oil industry.

Again, thank you - you are having a vital, timely impact on our efforts.
