Jack Bauer Interrogates The MSM Re: Obama-Mania!!!

This morning (January 24, 2007), I woke up laughing, because my awakening occurred amidst a dream that was so outlandish, yet so timely and relevant, that I could not help but laugh. The dream related to the way that the mainstream media launched Barack Obama into the forefront of the 2008 presidential race, because... well, no one seems to have any idea.

But one man... a (fictitous) American hero --- JACK BAUER --- became determined to find out... in his own, inimitable style.

The Setting: A sneering Jack Bauer, standing in the center of a circle of chairs, in a darkened room, with a lone bright light above his head. In each of the chairs, securely restrained by Jack-tied ropes, is a prominent figure in the mainstream media, including:

Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Charles Gibson, David Gregory, Wolf Blitzer, Diane Sawyer, Joe Klein, Robert Stengel (Managing Editor - TIME), and Richard Smith (Editor-In-Chief - Newsweek).

In other words, the first-string team of MSM figures who dish out the same left-tilting bromides and interpretations of the news, day after day, via their respective outlets.

JACK (bends over and gets right in her face): Lady, you’re going to tell me what I want to know or so help me, your “perkiness” will be nothing but a horrific memory to America .

Brian Williams: Easy there, Mr. Bauer, sir… she’s just a news anchor. We don’t have as much power as you think…

JACK (with hand now around front of Williams’ neck): Yes, you do. Every evening, tens of millions of Americans tune into your broadcasts. They trust you to report the news – NOT to MAKE the news. Barack Hussein Obama came out of nowhere, and over the past few months, you and your little friends here have made him the #1 contender for the 2008 Democratic nomination, before he even announced his candidacy. I want to know WHY – and you’re going to tell me, one way or another.

Charles Gibson: Um, Mr. Bauer, sir, there’s no need to get violent. We can all get along, can’t we?

JACK: Sure, sure we can. As soon as you all start talking, and explaining this exorbitant pre-campaign coverage you gave Obama, we’ll get along just like old friends.

JACK (putting his finger to his lips…): Lady, you don’t have a CLUE what people are interested in. You and your little pals have been MAKING the news, and most recently, you and your friends have MADE Obama into a superstar. I’m going to find out why – and you are going to help me. Or we’re going to have a problem, and trust me, you don’t want me as your problem.

Joe Klein: Now see here – there’s a thing called freedom of speech in America, and just because I wrote the cover story for TIME about how Obama should… er, I mean, could, be our next president, doesn't give you the right to...

JACK (clamps hand over Klein’s mouth): Yes, there is freedom of speech – and I’m exercising mine, now, at your expense. TALK!!! Why did you create Obama-Mania!?

JACK (looks at Williams, who immediately shuts up; then, to Katie): Go on.

Katie: OK, OK, just calm down!!! It’s because he’s like a walking one-man United Nations. He’s half-black and half-white, he was born a Muslim but converted to Christianity, he claims to be for freedom but advocates policies that are rooted in Marxism. He’s an undercover socialist, which is exactly what America needs right now. All that, plus, he’s G-O-Rgeous…

Robert Stengel: We put him on the cover of TIME Magazine and claimed he’d be a good president because he can speak clearly, he has a penetrating look, and he agrees with all of our leftist ideologies. And even though he said he wasn’t in the race, we felt maybe we could convince him to join it, by giving him a free PR machine that would have cost tens of millions of dollars, that other candidates will have to spend.

JACK: Particularly non-leftists, right?

Joe Klein: Well, right.

Robert Stengel: Joe, shut up!!!

Joe Klein: No, YOU shut up!!!

Diane Sawyer: Both of you shut up!!!

JACK: ALL of you shut up!!! And none of you see anything wrong with doing this?

Wolf Blitzer: No, why should we? We can do whatever we damn well pl…

JACK: Not without consequences, you can’t, you pompous jackass.

Wolf Blitzer: So what if we did it? You, you big man, your days are OVER. What we need is to rebuild America ’s place in the world from what all you warmongers did to it!!! Violence isn’t the solution to every problem!!! Do you know that????

JACK (bends down, goes literally nose-to-nose with him, shouting): America ’s PLACE in the world!?!? As if you had nothing to do with it??? EVERY day and every night, running the worst possible portrayals of what the U.S. is doing in Afghanistan , Iraq and other hot spots!?? REFUSING to cover the progress we are making!?!? The fact that our military has not lost a single battle??? Running the pictures of the real and fabricated deviant activities at Abu Grhaib and Guantanamo for months on end, without giving a thousandth of the time and print space to the measures we’ve gone to, to correct those situations? To punish the offenders? Without telling how we feed detainees gourmet Islamic meals, give them more luxuries and freedoms than prisoners anywhere in the world? These murderers!?!?

And what do you do?!? You portray them as victims, little innocent lambs caught up by the brutal Americans!?!?!?! And THEN, you have the AUDACITY to go take surveys of your readers and viewers to see what they “THINK” of our efforts in the war against Islamic fascism!?? And you claim you have NOTHING to do with how America is perceived in the world!!?!?

You have CREATED that impression, and have reinforced it 24/7 for months and years on end, you lowlife maggot!!! Er, excuse me... (sarcastically)... "Wolf" (snickers).

And I KNOW something about the 24-hour cycle, if you know what I mean.

Brian Williams: Look, Mr. Bauer, sir, if you could just loosen these straps…

JACK: No, I can’t. Not until you finish. How long did you think you could get away with all this?

Brian Williams: We didn’t know. In the news business, once one of us starts something, it kind of snowballs and the rest of us pick up on it, until Americans are overdosed on the story. Then we play it some more, until we can create or find a new “mania” to cover. We need eyeballs, Mr. Bauer, it’s as simple as that.

JACK (sarcastically): Oh really, as simple as that. Well if that were true, then why didn’t you focus all that airtime, and all that ink, on any other presidential hopeful? Why wasn’t this “Guiliani-Mania?” Or “Tancredo-Mania?” Or what about "Paul-Mania" --- you know, Ron Paul, the first Congressional libertarian in memory to run??? Why “Obama-Mania?”

David Gregory: Now look here, Jack…

JACK (gets in his face): That’s “Mr. Bauer” to you, scumbag.

David Gregory: Ahem, Mr. Bauer, sir… I think you already know the answer to that. It’s because Obama is a leftist, and those other guys you suggested, well, aren’t. And Tancredo, eewwww… he’s for a strong border, strong national defense, against illegal immigration, etc.

If we’re going to rebuild our popularity in the world, we have a lot to atone for, and a good place to start is by not being so terribly selfish. We have more than we need, and there are so many who have so little. We need to be more generous, so people will finally start to like us again. And Obama is for open immigration, shares Ted Kennedy’s desire to let all the illegals here become citizens (Democrats), is not going to offend Muslims by going after terrorists and terror cells, and is for all sorts of other welfare-state giveaways.

JACK: So that’s it. You all basically picked Obama out of the crowd, and made him your undisputed favorite for months on end, building his candidacy, wall-to-wall coverage, all because he’s of mixed racial and religious heritage, speaks well, and is handsome. Oh, and because he’s sympathetic to leftist causes. Is that it? Do I have that correct?

Katie Couric: Yes!!! That’s it!!! So what are you going to do about it, big man??? We can do WHAT we want!!! We are the ELITES of journalism!!! And just WAIT until my lawyer finds out that you’ve tied me up to this…

JACK: Lady, I didn’t get the nasty reputation I have for nothing. I could beat you to death with your own perfumed fist and there isn’t a man or woman in this room who’d testify that I did it, or that I was even here. They know it, I know it, and you do too. So shut the hell up until I ask you a question.

Charles Gibson: OK, now that you’ve found us out, what are you going to do?

JACK: That’s the first intelligent thing any of you have asked. And the answer is…

But as we all saw on Monday what Jack is willing to do to his own brother to get information...

Although I've not spent much time at HuffingtonPost.com lately, due to a combination of factors --- including my lack of interest, and the fact that I and other dissenters have been repeatedly "banned" since mid-December --- today was an exception.

I received an email heads-up from a friend who alerted me of the almost unprecedented level of hysteria and hate that was being expressed on a particular thread, which claims that according to a recent survey, "most of the world" disapproves of America, and its work in Iraq, in particular:

Europe and Asia have been responsible for more than 100 million deaths in the 20th century, whereas the United States has been responsible for liberating and extending the lives of more people than any nation in history.

For decades, Eurotrash weenies have had the chance to deal with the hotspots in their backyards (when they weren't arming and supporting thugs, dictators, etc.), and they punted (if not endorsing these miscreants to positions on the UN "Human Rights Commission."

And it's been America, time and time and time again, that has gone in, alone or with friends, to take care of business.

And it's precisely for this reason that we are so resented - because we finally realized that with or without Eurotrash allies and Asian weasels, we had to go take care of business, again.

It's kind of like a gang of unruly kids who resent the one parent in the neighborhood who actually enforces the rules and protects them from themselves, and those they've surrendered to. Look at France - they can't even muster the backbone to deal with legions of 15 year old punk jihadists, who are overwhelming their police forces. They propose to tell us how to deal with rogue nations (who they've helped to arm, and who they sold their votes in the UN to protect, in exchange for oil subsidies)? ... (W)hat should replace the UN? Some people talk about a “caucus of the democracies.” But I’d like to propose a more radical suggestion: nothing. In the war on terror, America’s most important relationships have been not transnational but bilateral: Australia’s John Howard didn’t dispatch troops to Iraq because the Aussies and the Yanks belong to the same international talking shop; Tony Blair’s reliability on war and terror isn’t because of the European Union but in spite of it. These relationships are meaningful precisely because they’re not the product of formal transnational bureaucracies.

... (W)hen the tsunami hit last year, hundreds of thousands of people died within minutes. The Australians and Americans arrived within hours. The UN was unable to get to Banda Aceh for weeks. Instead, the humanitarian fat cats were back in New York and Geneva holding press conferences warning about post-tsunami health consequences—dysentery, cholera, BSE from water-logged cattle, etc.—that, its spokesmen assured us, would kill as many people as the original disaster. But this never happened, any more than did their predictions of disaster for Iraq: “The head of the World Food Program has warned that Iraq could spiral into a massive humanitarian disaster.” Or for Afghanistan: “The UN Children’s Fund has estimated that as many as 100,000 Afghan children could die of cold, disease and hunger.”

... (I)t’s one thing to invent humanitarian disasters to disparage Bush’s unilateralist warmongering; but in the wake of the tsunami, the UN was reduced to inventing a humanitarian disaster in order to distract attention from the existing humanitarian disaster it wasn’t doing anything about.

(W)hile the UN and its agencies were on television badgering and hectoring the West for its stinginess, the actual relief efforts were being made by a couple of diverted U.S. naval groups and the Royal Australian Navy. The Scandinavians can’t fly in relief supplies, because they don’t have any C-130s. All they can do is wait for the UN to swing by and pick up their check. And it says something for the post-modern decadence of the age that that gives you supposed moral superiority.

It’s a good basic axiom that if you take a quart of ice cream and a quart of dog mess and mix ’em together, the result will taste more like dog mess than ice cream. That’s the problem with the UN. If you make the free nations and the thug states members of the same club, the danger isn’t that they’ll meet each other half-way but that the free world winds up going three-quarters or seven-eighths of the way. Indeed, the UN has met the thug states so much more than half way that they now largely share the dictators’ view of their peoples—as either helpless children who need every decision made for them, or a bunch of dupes whose national wealth can be rerouted to a Swiss bank account. Perhaps that malign combination of empty European gesture-politics and Third World larceny would be relatively harmless, at least in the geopolitical sense, if these were quieter times. But they’re not.

(T)his is an age in which America and its real allies—a bigger number than you’d think—need to be free to act without being a latter-day Gulliver ensnared by Lilliputian UN resolutions from head to toe. After all, consider the alternative to American action. As you may have noticed, the good people of Darfur in Sudan have been fortunate enough not to attract the attention of the arrogant cowboy unilateralist Bush and have instead fallen under the care of the UN multilateral compassion set. So, after months of expressing deep, grave concern over whether the graves were deep enough, Kofi Annan managed to persuade the UN to set up a committee to look into what’s going on in Darfur. Eventually, they reported back that it’s not genocide.

... (T)he transnational establishment’s alternative to Bush and his “coalition of the willing”: appoint a committee that agrees on the urgent need to do nothing at all. Thus, last year the UN Human Rights Commission announced the working group that will decide which complaints will be heard at its annual meeting in Geneva this spring: the five-nation panel that will select which human-rights violations will be up for discussion comprises the Netherlands, Hungary, Cuba, Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe. I wouldn’t bet on them finding room on their crowded agenda for the question of human rights in Cuba, Saudi Arabia and Zimbabwe.

International polls be damned: There may be some merit in some of their criticisms, but we also need to consider the sources: the hundreds of millions of "world citizens" who believe it is their duty to live under the most corrupt, oppressive, murderous regimes --- or those "cultured" nations" who look the other way or worse, enable or even justify these regimes --- many of whom participated in this trumpeted "poll."

Ayn Rand described this phenomenon best: "The hatred of the good for being good."

If America didn't exist, or was removed from the planet, the status quo of oppression, murder and surrender to religious or statist tyrants would be so much simpler. There would be no "shining city on a hill" to stand in stark contrast.

America doesn't exist to make things simpler for freedom-haters, liberty-bashers, and those who refuse to act in their self-defense.

America exists for its own sake.

And this, combined with the fact that we have made more progress in terms of advancing and defending freedom and human life in the course of our relatively short existence than any other nation in history, is what they really resent.

It has been said that if a reality-based individual wants to see the future of America, he need only look to Europe as the "canary in the coal mine," for what happens there will eventually happen here, if our current philosophical climate and governmental policies do not undergo fundamental changes --- fast.

Today, the UK Telegraph announced that more British newborns are being named "Mohammed" than "George," (now the 22nd most popular name), ahead of Alexander, Michael, Ben, Edward, Bradley, Adam and Sean.

You may hear about this in a mainstream media news blurb.

What you probably won't hear, however, is the correlation to other vital facts that directly relate to it:

Specifically, the fact that a substantial, growing minority of the 1.6 million Muslims in England --- both immigrants, as well as the native-born --- are supportive of and believers in violent jihad, in England and beyond.

According to the most comprehensive survey to date of Muslim opinion in Britain, conducted in August 2006 by NOP Research (reported by Patrick Basham, here):

• 45% percent say 9/11 was a conspiracy by the American and Israeli governments (more than twice as many as those who say it was not a conspiracy)

• 9% consider themselves "hardcore Islamists"

• 68% believe British people who “insult Islam” should be arrested and punished

• Nearly 33% would prefer to live under sharia (Islamic religious) law than under British law, and almost 50% of these say that, given the choice, they would move to a country governed by those laws

• Almost 25% believe that the July 7, 2005 attacks on London were justified because of British support for the U.S.-led war on terror

• Only 3% “took a consistently pro-freedom of speech line”

• 28% hope for the U.K. one day to become a fundamentalist Islamic state (which mirrors another recent survey, which indicates nearly one in three believe that Western society is decadent and immoral and that Muslims should seek to end it)

"Before the London bombings, British intelligence services estimated that one percent of British Muslims either support or are involved in terrorism. While this is mainly a peaceful and productive immigrant population, a significant number are prepared to act against their own country. The British government believes that, in recent years, 3,000 British Muslims have returned home from al Qaeda training camps.

"This terrorist weed which is choking the U.K. is especially hard to eradicate, because it is growing in British soil. America’s fastest-growing religion is Islam, but here in the States the numbers are not a security concern, as a commitment to Islam has not overwhelmed a strong attachment to America itself — another victory for the cultural melting pot. By contrast, the U.K. embraced taxpayer-subsidized multiculturalism and has paid a very dear price, indeed. The result — cultural apartheid — has encouraged a significant number of Muslims to exhibit more loyalty to fellow Muslims outside of the U.K. than to their fellow Britons."

Contrast this to the hysetria of the mainstream media and leftist activists in their reaction to any suggestion that we need to be much more vigilant --- and yes, ESPECIALLY vigilant --- in relation to Muslims who wish to visit or emigrate to America.

And unless we start to seriously discuss and debate the reality of what is happening there --- and here --- and who and what is actually enabling it, 9/11 may well be looked back upon by future historians as but a vicious prelude.

So it shouldn't have been surprising to see that on one of the Internet's magnets for lunatic leftists, The Huffington Post, when it posted a news account of Hezbollah's massive rally today --- with which they hoped to overthrow the government of Lebanon --- out came the Jew-hating blogging brigade, in strength (and stench).

As a reminder, prior to 9/11, Hebollah was responsible for murdering more Americans than any other Islamist organization. And there is no doubt that Hezbollah has been allied with other anti-American organizations for decades, and via its sponsors, Iran and Syria, has been training, arming and exporting jihadist murderers for just as long.

The article this blazing headline refers to, from (al) Reuters, reads in part:

"The handwritten signature was above his (Rumsfeld's) printed name and in the same handwriting in the margin was written: 'Make sure this is accomplished,' she (Karpinski) told Saturday's El Pais."

"The methods consisted of making prisoners stand for long periods, sleep deprivation ... playing music at full volume, having to sit in uncomfortably ... Rumsfeld authorized these specific techniques."

But come on, give them some good Zeppelin, or Stones, or Van Halen, or Neville Bros. or Motown, and they'd be grooving!!! It isn't the "music" they like to listen to - machine-gun fire, RPG rounds and victims screaming - but hey, when you join jihad, you don't get to choose the playlist.
