Let's Go "Inside The Mind Of A Killer" - NBC's Lame Excuse

.
(A continuation of my earlier thread on this story, here)

From the moment that some of the major details of the Virginia Tech tragedy began unfolding, it was clear that something more than merely another school shooting was afoot. Once it was revealed that this mass murderer didn't just snap, but had been planning this massacre for weeks, the carnage took on a new, ghastly dimension.

Last night, I would argue, the story took on an even more horrific dimension, when NBC News decided to essentially honor Cho Seung-Hui's fervent desire to be immortalized not only for having committed the worst shooting spree in American history, but to air the video rants that he made in the hours and days before he acted on his madness.

NBC could have simply informed its viewers that it had received a package from Seung-Hui containing said rants, and run text or narrative excerpts. They did not have to give him the platform to reach out from beyond the grave, to justify his mass murder, in the most powerful media of our time: video.

Instead, NBC News gave him exactly what he wanted. And they continue to show Seung-Hui's video rants over, and over, and over again.

Here's how the top dog at NBC News justified his decision --- in reaction to the fact that a number of victims' family members canceled scheduled appearances on NBC's "Today Show":

While NBC acknowledged that the material from Cho were likely devastating to the victims' families and that its news division was split over whether to air the material, NBC News President Steve Capus defended the decision to do so, arguing it only showed a small amount of the images they received.

"This is I think as close as we will ever come to being inside of the mind of a killer, and I thought that it needed to be released," he said on MSNBC. "Pretty much every single news organization all around the world has made the same decision, that it was appropriate to release this information."
I see. So now, if every "news" organization from the National Enquirer to all the tyrant-controlled media outlets in the Middle East and beyond decides it's A-OK to show the rants of a madman on TV, then NBC will now cater to and vindicate itself by racing to align itself with these lowest common denominators.

Well, as a quiet little voice in the blogosphere, I have a question for NBC News:

If you are so intent on getting "inside the mind" of those who can shed some relevant light on this tragedy, how about going inside the minds of America's Founding Fathers, and their reasoning for insisting that the right to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defense be placed so prominently in the Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution? Especially given:

    1. The militant groupthink that erupted in newsrooms from coast to coast and around the world as soon as this story broke, in which people who are disguised as "journalists" became militant propagandists for "gun control"? (For comprehensive coverage of this, please refer to NewsBusters.org - they are ALL over this). For essentially acting as propagandists for Democrats and leftists, in what is anticipated to become the "Gun Crime Victim Disarmament Act Of 2007," to legally prevent people in the positions of the VA Tech students, professors and administrators from fighting back with lethal force against the next murderer who goes on a rampage?
      .
    2. The fact that for the past 30 years, the "news" media has steadfastly refused to show Americans the innumerable instances in which individuals have stopped acts of violence by using --- gasp! --- firearms, instead of running endless, breathless repeats of stories on "gun violence"?
      .
    3. The fact that 95% of American adults cannot answer 10 of the most basic questions about the U.S. Constitution, and nearly 70% now believe (or don't know if) it contains Karl Marx's communist principle, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" (up from 45% in 1987)?
(Sources: Center for Survey Research & Analysis, University of Connecticut, “The State Of The First Amendment, 2001”; Caravan Group’s 2002 survey of 1012 U.S. adults 18 and older, for Columbia Law School, cited in “Americans Don’t Know Their Constitution: Columbia Law Survey Finds Confusion Over Founding Fathers vs. Karl Marx”; “The American Public's Knowledge of the U.S. Constitution: A Hearst Report,” 1987)

Do you think these facts are irrelevant? They are crucially relevant: The ignorance and misconceptions they indicate lie at the heart of what supposeldy now constitutes the "strong public support" for "sensible gun control" (codespeak for making it much more difficult, if not impossible for law-abiding Americans to obtain and use firearms to protect themselves, their families and other innocent victims).

And the sickest, most grimly ironic thing about this decision by NBC News to endlessly run Cho Seung-Hui's rants, is that if the American left actually does succeed in resurrecting the "Fairness Doctrine," people like me will insist on getting air- and print-time to expose the above, and answer the following:

  • What influences fomented Seung-Hui's hatred of our "debauchery-laden" culture, of wealth, of accomplishment, of freedom? Could it have been his teachers and professors? I mean, the militant Marxist ideology that has conquered our college campuses has absolutley nothing to do with the "blame-America-first" mentality, right?
    .
  • What role did mindless, violence-glorifying, America-bashing movies, music and video games (produced by companies that are almost invariably controlled, dominated and defended by the left --- just as is the "news media") play in sparking this tragedy? Apparently, more than the mainstream media is willing to concede at this point.
    .
  • What kind of insane mind believes that by advertising a 2,600-acre campus as a "gun-free zone" would dissuade murderers from attacking it --- as was the case at VA Tech? (For more information on this insanity, please see my other post, here)

Yes, I would like to go "inside the minds" of the people and institutions that had a far greater influence on the VA Tech tragedy than anyone in the news media is willing to acknowledge at this point.

Then, let's see NBC News President Steve Capus and others in positions of leadership in the news media try to defend the indefensible --- chiefly their militant lock-step march to present only one side of tragedies like this, which invariably point in one direction: to the loss of freedom, of the right of self-defense, and of the mentality that we must look to the state for every last thing that our lives are missing, or that we feel (or are taught that) we are "entitled to."

Hat tip to a sharp JQWorld reader ("MTB"). Read it all here. Perhaps there is some hope for the American news media to wake up and start applying some standard of reason to their decisions.

The Virginia Tech Massacre: Will We Ever Learn?

..
My heart goes out to the victims, their families, friends and loved ones.

I am working on a comprehensive post that will address this tragedy.

But as I have been watching the MSM coverage, and the hysterical calls for further disarmament of law-abiding Americans --- especially those who were (and are) in a position to react after a carnage like this erupts --- a quote by one of my favorite thinkers came to mind:

“The necessary consequence of man’s right to life is his right to self-defense. In a civilized society, force may be used only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use. All the reasons which make the initiation of physical force an evil, make the retaliatory use of force a moral imperative. If some ‘pacifist’ society renounced the retaliatory use of force, it would be left helplessly at the mercy of the first thug who decided to be immoral. Such a society would achieve the opposite of its intention: instead of abolishing evil, it would encourage and reward it."
.

- Ayn Rand, “The Nature Of Government,” Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal (1967)

Freedom most certainly is not free.

Vigilant defense of our lives and our freedoms is incumbent on any self-respecting (rational) being --- or nation.

But what happens when a culture's intellectual, legal and governmental guardians convince its population that that this principle is wrong --- that a carnage like this must be allowed to run its course, until law enforcement arrives (almost invariably, after the bulk of the murder has transpired)?

What happens is: uninterrupted carnage.

I do not blame the Virginia Tech administration for this tragedy.

I blame the ideas that unquestionably enabled it to happen, unabated, through the
legal, forcible disarmament of victims and those who have been entrusted to protect them --- ideas which have been, and are at this very moment being drummed into our heads with almost uninterrupted continuity, in some of the many places that Americans turn to for news and perspectives on tragedies like this (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here).

Ideas that have been demolished time and time again, including by
a Virginia Tech student who forewarned of the consequence of this disarmament... and an exhaustive study of how concealed-carry laws reduce violent crime.

Somehow, the mainstream media never quite seems to get around to giving these voices air- or print-time. Instead, as noted above, we are subjeced to near-militant(!) uniformity of thought: potential victims must be legally disarmed, to ensure peace and tranquility.

Will we never learn?

Have there not been quite enough warnings?

The Columbine massacre.

The Belsan massacre.

The Amish school massacre.

Al Quada's threat/promise/religious sanction to murder 2 million U.S. schoolchildren.

Floor plans for schools in Virginia, Texas and New Jersey in possession of militant Islamists in Iraq.

Videotapes confiscated in Afghanistan show al Quada terrorists practicing the takeover of a school.

Nondescript "extremists" seeking to become U.S. school bus drivers (FBI: "Nothing to fear").

The Minnesota mall shooting
.

WILL WE EVER LEARN!?

UPDATE, APRIL 20:
FRED THOMPSON NAILS IT

In this article at National Review Online, former Senator & prospective presidential candidate Fred Thompson scores a bullseye. Excerpt:

"One of the things that's got to be going through a lot of peoples' minds now is how one man with two handguns, that he had to reload time and time again, could go from classroom to classroom on the Virginia Tech campus without being stopped. Much of the answer can be found in policies put in place by the university itself...

"The statistics are clear. Communities that recognize and grant Second Amendment rights to responsible adults have a significantly lower incidence of violent crime than those that do not. More to the point, incarcerated criminals tell criminologists that they consider local gun laws when they decide what sort of crime they will commit, and where they will do so...

"Whenever I've seen one of those 'Gun-free Zone' signs, especially outside of a school filled with our youngest and most vulnerable citizens, I've always wondered exactly who these signs are directed at. Obviously, they don't mean much to the sort of man who murdered 32 people just a few days ago."

Read it all. Soon.

UPDATE: I continued my blogging on the VA Tech massacre, and NBC's decision to grant the murderer's last request, here.

UPDATE APRIL 30: TWO PROFOUNDLY DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO SOLVING THE PROBLEM OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE

1) Airline pilot Tracy Price explains why "gun-free school zones" are actually "defenseless zones" in a Washington Times editorial, HERE. Price defends the right to bear arms to enable students, teachers and administrators to fight back the next time a psychopathic mass murderer goes on a killing spree.

2) Acclaimed Filmmaker David Lynch commits millions of dollars to solving school violence problem --- through transcendental meditation (not a joke): HERE, to "to transform schools from breeding grounds of stress and violence into centers of creativity and peace."
A time for choosing, indeed.

HotAir: 2 Conversations with Dr. Walid Phares

.
Among the many other facets of her fun, informative site, Michelle Malkin's HotAir is a critical asset for anyone wishing to go beyond the veneer of discussions about the threats to American national security, and the realities from our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that somehow never quite make it to the MSM's "front burners." In the past several years of visiting HotAir, I've seen some exceptionally valuable videos, particularly by Robert Spencer of JihadWatch.

But this week, Michelle and Erick Stakelback produced a two-part blockbuster interview with Dr. Walid Phares, whom they rightfully call one of the "Paul Reveres" of the warnings we should have heeded decades ago in regards to the rise of global jihad, and how our own institutions --- most acutely, our schools and universities --- have been corrupted and subverted by radical Islamists. Dr. Phares has written two pivotal books on this subject: Future Jihad, and The War Of Ideas.

Here are
Part 1, and Part II of Dr. Phares's HotAir interview, in which he comments not only on the threat posed by radical Islamists, but even more disturbingly, on those within America's intellectual systems that are and have been facilitating global jihad, by turning our attention away from the vital knowledge that everyone from the 8th grade and beyond should have been made aware of, for years.

Read about Dr. Phares here and
here. The think tank he works with, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, is located here.

Do yourself a favor: Watch these videos, forward this link on to friends, family and colleagues, and if possible, send a contribution to the FDD. This is an organization that is fighting the good fight, and is truly deserving of the support of every American who is interested in preserving liberty in the face of the ongoing assault, from both external and internal forces that are hellbent upon destroying it, one lie, one victory at a time.

PBS Dhimmitude, Part I

With the emergence of a group like the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, Muslim Americans who dare to advocate core American principles of liberty, individual rights, and a legal separation of religion and government, JQWorld anticipated that it would only be a matter of time before they would run head-long into the pervasive leftist bias and dhimmitude exhibited by PBS.

That time is now upon us.

AIFD
stands against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the incendiary theatrics they staged with the "flying Imams," and stands with US Airways now that it's been hit with a CAIR lawsuit.

AIFD
stands against the notorious Muslim Brotherhood, which has its roots in and continues to pursue a radical Islamist agenda (not to mention its ties to terrorism around the globe).

AIFD's
mission statement is more representative of bedrock American values than anything on 99% of leftist advocacy groups' websites (who routinely deride any group that advocates such stances as those espousd by the AIFD as "conservative" or "rightwing;" but as the group consists of Muslims, they can't play the "racist!" card).

All of which means that it was only a matter of time before AIFD and anyone they're affiliated with would be targeted by the leftist "establishment" that is personified --- under force of law --- at PBS.

From the Arizona Republic, today:

Producer: PBS Dropped 'Islam vs. Islamists' On Political Grounds

Excerpt:

The producer of a tax-financed documentary on Islamic extremism claims his film has been dropped for political reasons from a television series that airs next week on more than 300 PBS stations nationwide. Key portions of the documentary focus on Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser of Phoenix and his American Islamic Forum for Democracy, a non-profit organization of Muslim Americans who advocate patriotism, constitutional democracy and a separation of church and state...

Martyn Burke says that the Public Broadcasting Service and project managers at station WETA in Washington, D.C., excluded his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, from the series America at a Crossroads after he refused to fire two co-producers affiliated with a conservative think tank...

Burke wrote that his documentary depicts the plight of moderate Muslims who are silenced by Islamic extremists, adding, "Now it appears to be PBS and CPB who are silencing them."...

Among Burke's examples of tampering:

  • A WETA manager pressed to eliminate a key perspective of the film: The claim that Muslim radicals are pushing to establish "parallel societies" in America and Europe governed by Shariah law rather than sectarian courts.
    .
  • After grants were issued, Crossroads managers commissioned a new film that overlapped with Islam vs. Islamists and competed for the same interview subjects.
    .
  • WETA appointed an advisory board that includes Aminah Beverly McCloud, director of World Islamic Studies at DePaul University. In an "unparalleled breach of ethics," Burke says, McCloud took rough-cut segments of the film and showed them to Nation of Islam officials, who are a subject of the documentary. They threatened to sue.
Read it all here.

(And for a VITAL backgrounder on how PBS has used U.S. taxpayer dollars to recruit for Islam (if not Islamism, a/k/a Muslim supremacism), see this fascinating 2002 article by Dr. Daniel Pipes.)

The HuffPost's "Miniscule Minority Defense Initiative" Goes Live!!!

=================================================

SEE UPDATES AT END

- THE "MMDI" GOES LIVE TO SUPPRESS VA TECH COMMENTS

-
THE "MMDI" GOES LIVE TO STOP ANY COMMENTS ON HAMAS-MICKEY MOUSE THREAD

- THE "MMDI" GOES LIVE TO STOP ANY COMMENTS ON AL SHARPTON'S LATEST DIVISIVE RANT

=================================================

Fans of JonQuixoteWorld will remember the infamous "Cheney Thread," in which:

  • Upon national media exposure (thanks in part to JQWorld), The Huffington Post surgically scrubbed a thread describing how the Taliban had attempted to assassinate Vice President Cheney, because Arianna Huffington claimed that "a miniscule portion" of the estimated 500 comments expressed regret that the Taliban had not succeeded --- a sentiment she later referred to as being limited only to "clearly unhinged, fringe" users (translation: rabid leftists)
    .
  • JQWorld demolished this myth, by demonstrating that it was in fact a great majority of the commenters who expressed this sentiment, as evidenced by the fact that what was a 19-page thread filled with these sentiments was magically transformed into a 1/2 page thread with 12 innocuous comments

Those who are new to JQWorld can review the blow-by-blow details here and here.

Well, it would seem the HuffPost administrators/editors have wisened up --- but only somewhat.

Thanks to a timely tip from a fan, JQWorld learned that today, HuffPost put up a thread entitled "Bush Almost Blows Himself Up," as shown below, which links to
this story, from the Detroit News.

As anyone who visits HuffPost on a regular basis knows quite well, this story would be the proverbial "red meat" that would ordinarily unleash a torrent of "unhinged, fringe" hate, hysteria and general leftist loonbattedness that would make the "Cheney Thread" look like a Sunday school class.

But what happened when anyone tried to comment on the thread? They'd go through the usual multi-screen process, type out their comment, only to get the screen below: "Comments are not allowed on this entry."

Wow. What happened? I mean, the Huffington Post
(along with Daily Kos and a few others) is supposed to be the online home of the "peace and tolerance and inclusiveness and diversity and understanding" crowd, the enlightened leftists!!!

Well, apparently the HuffPost has instituted a (military drumroll):

"Miniscule Minority Defense Initiative!!!"

But what we at JQWorld don't quite understand is if, as Ms. Huffington said, only a "miniscule portion" of "clearly unhinged, fringe" commenters made such hateful, insane comments on the "Cheney Thread," then why isn't HuffPost even allowing ANY comments on this thread? None?

That will remain a question for the ages!!!

Along with this one: If HuffPost wasn't going to allow comments on the thread, why did it even put the story up, along with the standard subhead, "Share/Comment"? Hm.

Well, we at JQWorld have more important things to devote our brainpower to. Readers, however, are encouraged to send in their theories!

===================================

UPDATE APRIL 18:
NOW, HUFFPOST NOT ALLOWING MORE THAN TOKEN COMMENTS --- IF ANY --- ON ANYTHING REGARDING THE VA TECH MASSACRE

Although I've not been posting at HuffPost in the last few days, in large part because I've been working on my own take on this tragedy (here), I have observed it from time to time... and it's clear that their Stalinist tactics have now reached an entirely new level.

From the moment this story broke, the seething, hate-filled, liberty-bashing, America-castigating leftist lunatic nutjobs that constitute the bulk of the HuffPost user base were venting their insanity --- or rather, attempting to.

But thanks to the HuffPost's new "MMDI," the threads dealing with the VA Tech situation have either been (a) rigged to not accept any comments, or (b) allowed only a token few, inoffensive comments to actually be posted. I've documented this extensively, above, and will not waste my time proving in detail the crushing of "freedom of speech" at HuffPost, so I'll only provide the thread-links:

(Monday, April 16): One Killed In VA Tech Shooting (thread open to comments for 90 minutes, then offensive comments scrubbed and shut down)

(Tuesday, April 17):
VA Tech President Confirms Gunman Was A Student (thread open for 9 minutes; HuffPost didn't even bother to scrub offensive comments, just shut it down)

(Wednesday, April 18): Gunman Accused Of Stalking Female Students In 2005 (thread open for 3 minutes, then shut
down)
But leave it to the seething leftist HuffPosters to find another way to vent their hatred of the right of self-defense, of the NRA, of President Bush, of all non-leftists, and of course, worshipping the foreign nations that have assailed America over our "gun culture" --- on other threads having nothing to do with VA Tech:

Here, here, here and throughout the rest of the "peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, diverse, patriotic and enlightened" legion that comment on "news and opinion" items at the HuffingtonPost. Oh, right, I forgot --- and the advocates of "freedom of speech."

Uh-huh.

===================================

UPDATE MAY 8: NOW, HUFFPOST NOT ALLOWING ANY COMMENTS ON HAMAS PROPAGANDA STORY

Isn't that sweet. After the stellar amount of seething loonbatted hate and jihad-appeasement at HuffPost that I documented here, it seems they may be wisening up, and just shutting down threads before the hate-crowd infests them.

But isn't Queen Arianna getting just a little bit paranoid when she shuts down a thread that one would expect would generate unanimous outrage --- such as this one, in which the Palestinian Islamist terror group Hamas has now co-opted America's beloved Mickey Mouse to deliver vicious anti-Jew, Islam-will-take-over-the-world hate incitement among children?

Little Green Footballs has the thread here.

Ooooohhhhhh wait, I forgot: There are no Jew-haters at HuffPost. No, no, no. None whatsoever. All the Jew-hating posts that I've documented here and here, those are all... well, according to the leftist intelligentsia, they are all part of a vast right-wing conspiracy. Uh-huh.

The seething left, silenced by one of their own leaders. Leftism can't be any other way.

=============================================

UPDATE, MAY 10: THE "MMDI" GOES LIVE TO STOP ANY COMMENTS ON AL SHARPTON'S LATEST DIVISIVE RANT

Ah, yes. Put up a post that bashes President Bush, VP Cheney or anything non-leftist, and the hate, hysteria and propaganda flies like monkey-excrement at HuffPost. But put up a headline describing Al Sharpton's latest divisive rant --- this time concerning religion --- and the MMDI goes into effect; no comments are allowed. This is especially interesting, given that as noted here, the HuffPost has taken down the only thread dealing with the domestic jihadists' planned assault on Ft. Dix (see Update May 8-9, here).

For those who aren't aware of it, here's what the Reverend Al said:

"As for the one Mormon running for office, those that really believe in God will
defeat him anyway, so don't worry about that."

And here's the thread on HuffPost, which hasn't accepted comments on this outrageous comment by Sharpton since it was put up.

I see. Well, I'm starting to detect a pattern here. If the thread title would in any way incite the loonbatted leftists to engage their hatred to defend the indefensible, especially if it in any way relates to non-leftist blacks, or Islamists, well, HuffPost just shuts the thread down to comments. How conveeeeennnnnniiiiiieennnttttt.... eh? But perfectly in synch with their Stalinist-like thirst to control thoughts and perceptions.

Is JonQuixote "Fatwa-Worthy?" Maybe.

SEE UPDATES AT END
=============================

Well, well, well. Look what was discovered on the Web, here, via a hot lead:

"I have returned to provide my opinions on the politics and current affairs of our time, which is evidently needed in light of the vast array of anti-Islamic opinion that continues to invade our time, and this includes cyberspace (just check out my "Fatwaworthy?" links for a few examples). It is remarkable that they continue to fail to comprehend the unity and peace of Islam which is in front of them when it is written they will regret their actions at the moment of death."
And WHO, pray tell, is on that list of those who are "Fatwaworthy?" Take a look for yourself --- follow the left margin down, down down... there ya go... yup, JonQuixote is right there, amidst a list of other "contenders."

As my profile says, freedom of speech is a precious thing. I'm exercising mine.

How sad that a significant portion of the world population still believes that freedom of speech must be extinguished under threats of physical violence, in order to achieve uniformity of thought, speech, opinion and perception.

But hey, given my experience with receiving threats and more from the seething, Stalinist-emulating leftists in the blogosphere and elsewhere (you know, the "peace and tolerance and diversity and inclusiveness and tolerance" crowd) for voicing my opinions, I'll just add this to the list that I forward on to friends in law enforcement and beyond.

Just doing my little part for a better America, ya know?

UPDATE, APRIL 10: "Radical Muslim" and a mystery HuffPuffer post comments; JonQ replies, and reflects!

If you scroll down on this thread, you'll see that the first comment submitted is from Jamal, the "fatwa-issuer." The next one is from an unknown(!) HuffPoster, spouting the same boilerplate racist drivel. I responded to both.

Then, I began to wonder --- what could have possibly earned me a position on a "fatwa-list" of such heavy-hitters as
JihadWatch, Daniel Pipes, Little Green Footballs, Michelle Malkin, AtlasShrugs2000 and others? I mean, JQWorld is gaining in popularity, but is not in the same league as these others (JQWorld's most recent ranking at Technorati: #218,000 of 71 million blogs).

So what was it that could have catapulted JQWorld into these big-league fighters against radical Islamism, at least in the mind of "RadicalMuslim"? Well, I went through the archives of my blogthreads, and reviewed some of the more... hateful, threatening and/or loonbatted
(looks at HuffPosters) emails and comments I've gotten, and I think these threads might have something to do with it:

American Leftists: The New Jihadist Propaganda Squad

.

Ah, yes...

... another prime example of the insanity harbored and propagated by the seething American left, which, as I've documented repeatedly here at JQWorld, is the new home of rabid Jew-hatred and anti-Israel propaganda.

On the Huffington Post on Friday, April 6, a story link was posted, with the title:

"Israel Fires Rockets Into Gaza"

Stop and think about that headline for a moment.

Why would Israel fire rockets into Gaza?

Is it because their soldiers were drunk, bored, and looking for entertainment, so they decided to launch a few rockets into Gaza, to kill some Palestinians having peaceful dinner, for laughs? Or because Israel hasn't been subjected to quite enough negative, twisted, fabricated news stories --- and because they are secretly sadomasochists, they wanted more?

Well, let's read
the actual article:
"Reuters news agency quoted residents as saying the missiles targeted militants near the Jabaliya refugee camp.

"Since the ceasefire was declared, militants have fired at least 150 rockets into Israel, while Israel carried out an air strike last month.

"Islamic Jihad said its militants and others from another group were mounting an operation near the border when Israel fired the missiles.

"Two militants were wounded in the attack, Palestinian sources said."

Unguided Katyusha rockets being launched from Palestinian jihad terrorists against civilian centers in Israel

Katyusha rockets land in Israel --- many packed with ball bearings, to inflict maximum civilian deaths

Wow. 150 rocket attacks against Israel. Two retaliatory strikes by Israel. 150-2. Why?

Because as Israel has repeatedly said, and the facts have documented, the Palestinians launch rockets from random locations against civilian population centers in Israel, whereas Israel attempts to hit only those who are launching the rockets.

For brevity, I'm not going to go into the extent to which Palestinians are teaching their children that to murder Jews is the highest duty of their lives... and arming them with the means of doing so. That fact has been documented by others, extensively.

Instead, let's look at what the jihadist propaganda squad
(also known as the new American left) had to say about this incident (thread located here) at one of their favorite cyber-gathering spots, the Huffington Post.

Particularly insane/inflammatory comments are highlighted in red:
When Israel says they "Targeted Militants", it always means they killed some poor Civilians mostly Women and Children.
By: forpeace on April 06, 2007 at 08:17pm

Americans....read behind the story a bit here and understand that:(1) These missiles aimed at the refugee camp were made in America,(2) Paid for by YOUR tax dollars,(3) Fired from US made and paid for aircraft,(4) By pilots who were trained by America at America's expense. Israel has no economy. No real industry except government, and most of that is military, aimed at killing Palestinians. Mostly women and children. Israel is a giant welfare state that YOU, Americans pay for to the tune of US$15million per day. Israel is a leech on the US Treasury, and would not exist except it is propped up by successive corrupt US Administrations. And you, dear Americans pay for it all. You have no health care system, crumbling infrastructure, violent and unachieving schools and a military that has had its power and integrity squandered by criminals. Thanks to Israel. Happy Passover! Happy Easter! Feel better now?
By: 1TruthTeller on April 06, 2007 at 08:24pm

Back in the late seventies the Israelis went into Lebanon, and then all of a sudden, in less than two days time, the Israelis turned around and went back to Israel. Years later we found out that President Carter made a phone call to Prime Minister Begin telling him that if they didn't turn around, he would report to Congress that the new F-16's we just sent them were being used as offensive weapons. Thus ending new shipments to Israel for a while. That's all it takes...
By: troubledwawa on April 06, 2007 at 08:39pm

I'm starting to have no sympathy for the Israelinazis.
They get what they deserve.

Unable to compete on a level playing field, Israel destroys Lebanon's and the Palestinians' source of economic sustenance, like orchards, olive groves and tourism. Then it steals their land and fences it in.All the evidence points to a failed society and a failed economy, and a violent bully flailing about with impunity trying not to drown in a quagmire of its own making. That's Israel for you. Ahmeninejad was right, Israel will wipe itself off the map, by its own cruelty.

Israel cannot use the weapons we supply to them for offensive action. Why the hell can't we pull the plug on this senseless slaughter? I am sick of dancing around these Israeli apologists....

The state of Israel was formed solely because of a successful terrorist campaign against Britain. Why should we accord them any more legitimacy than we accord Hamas? At least Hamas makes a point of providing social services to their constituents, something the Haganah, the terror organization that became the Israeli government, never did.

Didn't Israel kill SIX UN envoys in Lebanon this past summer?Yes. They did. Finally, daily rockets are NOT landing in Israel. You're just lying again b/c the truth makes Israel look criminal.
By: tellintruth on April 07, 2007 at 12:09am

On the same day that those scumbag Jewish soldiers shot and killed two men in the back, they shot another in the legs and left him to bleed to death. This happens every single day.Israels will shoot Palestinians and leave them to bleed to death, preventing medical personnel to reach them and forcing their families to watch their loved ones die. The purpose of this barbarism is to break the will and spirit of the Palestinian people.
By: tellintruth on April 07, 2007 at 12:46am

The truth is:There has not been a single rocket fired into Israel since November 2006. Instead of addressing the fact that she LIED and got caught in yet another lie, she just keeps lying and squawking. Why dont you and your shlomos move to Tel Aviv and let my Hammas supervisors know exactly where to find you.

AMY GOODMAN: In 2006, you write that George W. Bush said to his father, "What's a neocon?"
ANDREW COCKBURN: That's right. One of the rare moments of sort of communication between the two. Bush said to -- they were out at Kennebunkport, and Bush Jr. says, "Can I ask you a question? What's a neocon?" And the father says, "Do you want names or a description?" The President says, "I'll take a description." He says, "I'll give it to you in one word: Israel..."

Wow, huh?

To be fair, there were commenters who spoke out against these rabid Jew-hating, Israel-bashing on this thread... but they were a distinct, unsuccessful minority.

Scan the thread for yourself. Then recall Arianna Huffington's explanation (which I dissected and demolished, here) for why HuffPost administrators surgically scrubbed the infamous "Cheney Thread," transforming it from a 19-page (est. 500-post) rant by American leftists --- wishing that the Taliban had been successful in assassinating him --- into a 1- page thread with 12 innocuous comments: in her words, to remove "a miniscule portion" of comments by "clearly unhinged, fringe" commenters.

Well, in this case, it was the folks who brought a modicum of truth to this thread that constituted the "miniscule portion" of posters. And just in case HuffPost administrators decide to yank the thread of "unhinged, fringe" blistering anti-Jew, Israel-bashing hatred... I've saved the thread to PDF, and will gladly email it to inquirers.

Why does such rabid Jew-hatred and insane Israel-bashing fester in the American left?

Could it have something to do with the effort that jihadists and their supporters have made to infiltrate and indoctrinate students on American college campuses, which themselves are dominated by leftist faculty, administration, etc.? What role do Islamist "civil rights" organizations such as CAIR, MPAC, etc. play?

Well, do any of these questions really matter --- being that the opinion-makers and perception-creators in the MSM will not cover any of it?

Yes, they do.

A lot.

And there's still another question that needs to be asked: When will American Jews be made aware of what's going on in the American left --- and who is really standing up for Israel, and Jews in general, and who is standing for their destruction?

It's clear that the MSM isn't going to touch this with a 10-foot kaffiya. So it's up to the blogosphere to inform them. Pass the link to this thread to your friends, along with this link to an earlier thread, in which I documented the many previous instances of threads like this.

UPDATE, APRIL 7: LEST WE FORGET THE DAILYKOS "ZIONAZI" DISPLAY THIS WEEK

Fresh on the heels of this jihadist propaganda on HuffPost, let's recall the Israel-bashing loonbattedness that was hosted this week at another prime gathering spot for American leftists, the DailyKos (hat tip: LGF, here):

Countdown To "DiFi-Mania"

.

As noted here, here, here and elsewhere at JonQuixoteWorld, the mainstream media gets fixated on "mania" stories, seemingly only when they relate to one of several situations:

  • To promote leftists and their causes ("Gore-Mania," "Obama-Mania")
    .
  • To focus on corruption of non-leftists ("Abarahamoff-Mania")
    .
  • To divert attention from (or pretend to ignore) Islamist terror ("JonBonet-Mania")
    .
  • To divert attention from other vital stories, such as the revelations about Sandy Burger stealing and destroying one-of-a-kind national security documents (more here) --- which insiders speculate indicated the level of incompetence and corruption within the Clinton administration regarding its approach to combating terrorism --- to focus on much more important stories, such as "AmericanIdol-Mania," "Oscar-Mania," and "(insert your non-story-of-choice here)-Mania"

So, it is with eager, breathless anticipation that JonQuixoteWorld is waiting for the MSM to redeem itself, by focusing all its billions of dollars of resources on the evolving corruption allegations against Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), which may well be the single largest political corruption scandal in American history.

Thus, today begins our countdown until Katie, Brian, Charles, Chris, Keith, Barbara, Rosie and the rest of the MSM gang begin to focus their vulture-like obsession and attention on the esteemed Democractic Senator who, as we all know, like all good leftists, "means well," and only does what she does "for the children."

Waiting...

Waiting...

Waiting...

Uh-huh.

That's OK. I'm an optimist, and as such, will keep vigil for when the MSM finally decides to break out of its congenital leftist bias, in which they will go to any extent to protect and promote leftist politicians, while stopping at nothing to destroy non-leftists.

Waiting...

Waiting...

Waiting...

MAY 1 UPDATE: CRICKETS STILL CHIRPING; ARTICLE IN THE HILL

Today, this article appeared in The Hill, an update of sorts on the pending "Di-Fi Mania" vigil we're keeping here at JQWorld.

Well, with all the news about the VA Tech massacre, the Bush war-funding veto, the Washington madame scandal, the "American Idol" contestants, the 2008 presidential horse-race, the latest in the Donald Trump-Rosie O'Donnell feud, what is shaping up to be the biggest single act of political corruption in Washington history is still being swept under the rug by the entire MSM.

That's ok. JQWorlders are optimists. With enough pressure, maybe just this once the MSM will make an exception, and begin to focus its manic-like hunger for controversy on Diane Feinstein. Say.... in 2028?

The "New DemocratSpeak," Part I

=================================
SEE UPDATES AT END
=================================

In George Orwell’s classic, “1984,” he coined the term “Newspeak” to describe the means by which language had been manipulated to cloak and advance the exact opposite of what was supposedly being said.

“War Is Peace,” "Ignorance Is Strength," "Freedom Is Slavery," etc. See more
here.

Well, apparently the new Democratic majority on Capitol Hill has taken Orwell’s “newspeak” to heart, and the bill they’ve introduced today is a testament to how hardcore their adherence to such principles actually are. I call it the "New DemocratSpeak."

Senators Harry Reid and Russ Feingold have now proposed cutting off funding to our soldiers, immediately, to facilitate their "withdrawl," which they claim is "not surrender."

Senators Reid and Feingold, co-authors of the "Surrender Iraq to Jihad Bill of 2007"
Reid with a classic one-fingered salute to anyone who tries to tell him of the short- and long-term consequences for America if this bill passes

When a military force relocates one group of soldiers from one battlefront to another, in the same theater, that's called "redeployment."

But when a military force is ordered to "withdraw," to reoccupy bases at home or anywhere the battle is not being fought, leaving the enemy on the battlefield, that is called "surrender."

This is true whether it is ordered by the duly-elected Commander In Chief --- or even, as is the case today, illegitimately, by legislators who wrongfully think they are legally empowered to supercede the CiC's command authority, because the CiC won't stand up to them.

The jihadists view this proposed action by the Democrats to be America's surrender.

Our soldiers, most of whom sincerely believe they can win this battle, also believe it to be surrender.

But apparently, there's a good chance that the "New DemocratSpeak" will prevail --- unless something is done to stop it.

The Democrats on the Hill, knowing their leftist allies have a stranglehold over America's educational system --- and that they have intellectually disarmed our population --- know that there is no limit to the linguistic games that they can play with Americans, and "withdrawl" (whether "strategic" or not) is merely one of these games.

If these Democratic leaders were honest, they'd admit that they want to pull our soldiers out of all battlefields against jihadists, right now, today. That's what their new, seething leftist base has been telling them to do, right?

There are principled arguments to be made on both sides, but only one side is currently making them (kind of).

And it isn't the Democrats.

The Republicans (and most nauseatingly, the RINOs) certainly have not done as good of a job as they could have, and should have done, to explain the nature of this battle, and the short- and long-term consequences if we withdraw, thereby declaring our surrender of Iraq to the jihadists.

But until this debate is focused on principles, which are clearly and openly expressed, the Democrats are going to continue to be able to get away with this kind of newspeak --- or as I prefer, the "New Democratspeak."

UPDATE 1, APRIL 4: THE NEW DEMOCRATSPEAK, PART II --- A "Global War on Terror" No More!!!

According to a
MilitaryTimes.org article, the (esteemed) Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill decreed in a just-discovered March memo that the military engagements that U.S. forces are deployed in around the world shall no longer be referred to as the "Global War On Terror." The "New DemocratSpeak" masters on the Hill explained it:

The House Armed Services Committee is banishing the global war on terror from the 2008 defense budget. This is not because the war has been won, lost or even called off, but because the committee’s Democratic leadership doesn’t like the phrase. A memo for the committee staff, circulated March 27, says the 2008 bill and its accompanying explanatory report that will set defense policy should be specific about military operations and “avoid using colloquialisms.”

The “global war on terror,” a phrase first used by President Bush shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., should not be used, according to the memo. Also banned is the phrase the “long war,” which military officials began using last year as a way of acknowledging that military operations against terrorist states and organizations would not be wrapped up in a few years.

Committee staff members are told in the memo to use specific references to specific operations instead of the Bush administration’s catch phrases. The memo, written by Staff Director Erin Conaton, provides examples of acceptable phrases, such as “the war in Iraq,” the “war in Afghanistan," “operations in the Horn of Africa” or “ongoing military operations throughout the world.”

Read the rest here.

This really shouldn't come as a surprise. For decades, the Democrats have been using language to manipulate public perceptions, and avoid the nasty business of attributing objective characteristics to both ideas and people. There are innumerable examples of this phenomena, but most recently, a Florida state legislator announced her plan to ban the phrase "illegal aliens" from state documents (
here), because she finds it "offensive."

In other, as-yet unannounced "New DemocratSpeak" news:

"Bank robbery" shall now be referred to as acts of "involuntary non-customer cash withdrawal"

"Rape" shall now be referred to as acts of "nonconsensual intimate relations"

"Murder" shall now be referred to as "premeditated, premature, non-peaceful discontinuance of life"

In a way, however, the Democrats are actually right. The war we're engaged in should be referred to as "America's Ongoing War Against Islamist Barbarism and Totalitarianism."

But that would be very, very, very politically incorrect. After all, we wouldn't want to "make things worse," right? (That's the excuse that Speaker Pelosi gave, through her spokesman, as to why she would not allow debate in the House re a resolution condemning Iran's recent seizure of 15 British soldiers, and demanding their safe and immediate release; see Item 3,
here).

And we most certainly wouldn't want to be precise in our wording --- because that is the kryptonite to the "New DemocratSpeak."

UPDATE: See Part II of this thread, here.
